A180 Clear QAM

Now that the Aver A180 will tune clear qam channels thru cable with AverMedia SW in windows (I've tested it and it works great!) does it mean that it will be possiable with Sage?
Was it just a matter of drivers for windows?

It's a matter of drivers AND an interface. At the moment there's no common interface for accessing QAM tuning in Windows (unlike ATSC which has the BDA framework).

It's now theoretically possible to tune QAM with the A180 in Windows, but until Sage implements the A180's proprietary QAM tuning API, it won't work.

Theoretically? Are you saying that you are watching QAM through Sage?

As stated, Windows I Never clamed I was with Sage only asked if it would be possible now that AverMedia showed us it was possible, it would be a nice feature. I recive over 50 stations with AverMedia's SW and Drivers in Windows.

Sure you can, if you are willing to run another box and buy some more software:

or I believe the Linux version of Sage is doing it, but that also will require you to buy more software (Sage for Linux) and run Linux.

BDA is the driver framework used for tuning ATSC (OTA) channels in Windows. It's used by MCE, and thus by virtually all ATSC cards and programs. Basically any BDA capable program should work with any BDA capable tuner.

BDA, at least as it's currently implemented, does not support QAM tuning, QAM tuning doesn't use the BDA framework/interface. As such in order to tune QAM channels, you must use the drivers proprietary interface.

Sage currently uses the BDA framework/interface for it's digital tuning and thus can't (as is) tune QAM. It's definitely possible to do it, but it would require special development effort specifically for the A180, or any other QAM tuner.
