sage doing something strange

sage is putting my monitor into what looks like powersave/sleep mode, it goes black and the power button turns from green to brown like it normally does after 20 mins of me not using my computer

it is happening when i am trying to play live tv or even playing recordings

i havent changed anything, i havent watched any tv on it in a while, but last time i watched something it was fine

is this a known issue right now?

no one has any suggestions? i have three recordings from weeks ago, even months ago. one of them i know for a fact used to play no problem and now when i try to play it in sage or not with sage, the video freezes and audio stops after one second and then my screen goes blank and i have to manually turn off my computer. i'm working with sage support right now, he suggested i reinstall, tried that but it didnt work. could this be an issue with my audio decoder? i played live tv fine with another software program, however, there was stragely no audio with it

Sage reinstall

I purchased Sage a couple of weeks ago. When I first set it up I made a mistake and decided to reinstall it from scratch. After using their cleanup program to get rid of all traces of Sage, my computer would not boot, just got a black screen. I used the boot to safe mode and restored back to the last good restore point which was right before I had installed Sage luckily. I think something in the Hwclear program removed something my video card needed.

I've never heard of that problem being caused by Sage. Are you saying that you re-installed XP/Vista and it's still happening? Has anything been installed/uninstalled since the last time it worked?

HWClear is a Hauppauge program, not Sages'...it *will* take out some other drivers. It would wipe my Fusion drivers everytime. I never really needed it. No video window during setup is common...just select the tuner and continue. You can continue without a channel being tuned.

HWClear is not a Sage program - it is from Hauppauge. It is for clearing out the drivers that come with the Hauppuage TV Tuner Cards. It has nothing to do with Sage except that Sage makes use of the TV Tuner Cards.

Have you made any of the following changes to your computer recently:
-Re-installed Windows
-Set-up a new user account for Windows
-Upgraded Video Card Drivers
-Installed other new hardware like TV Tuner cards, etc.

If so, Windows may be turning your monitor off due to inactivity...
Try this just to be sure:
1. Right Click on the Windows Desktop and choose Properties from the pop-up.
2. Click the Screen Saver Tab from the Display Properties Window that appears.
3. Set the Screen Saver selection to "(none)".
4. Click the "Power..." button on this same Screen Saver window.
5. In the Window that appears, go to the "Power Schemes" tab.
6. Make sure that the item next to "Turn off monitor" is set to "Never."
In fact, you are probably best setting the Power Scheme to "Always On" and setting everything on this window to "Never."

Some of the other symptoms you mentioned sound like the video drivers may be corrupt.
You may need to uninstall and reinstall your video card. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your card while you're at it.

i have the monitor set to turn off after 20 mins, which i've always had, i'm not being inactive when the screen goes blank, it always happens right when i'm trying to play live tv or play a recording by sage (using sage or not using sage)... it definetly has to be something with my decoders, i havent updated or rolled back any drivers or anything like that so i really dont see how it is. i have also made no hardware changes, reloaded windows or any of the above

Sorry my mistake

Yes that is right, HWCLEAR did come with the tuner, not the card. Getting too old I guess
