Avermedia 180 not tuning properly help

Well I don't know what is going on. My Sage setup has been running fine for quit some time, then all of a sudden my OTA stations that are captured by the Avermedia 180HD stopped tuning properly. Some channels were pretty consistant, others I just can't get to tune, Fox is the worst one. You go to tune fox and it just stays at the channel you came from. I have tried upgrading the drivers, and reinstalling the card in sage, and it might work for a bit but then stops tunning fox again.

Any ideas, is this a hardware or a sage issue..

Thanks
Mike

can you tune it in on the software that came with the card? If not, then the problem is not with sage. what's your signal strength... maybe the antenna was moved by the wind or a connection is loose or your inline amplifier is bad (or maybe you need one), etc.

Thank you for the suggestions. It's a very weird problem. I can tune in fox fine on my upstairs TV that uses the same antenna feed. So I know it's not the antenna or the booster. I'm also getting signal strength in the high 90's

What is very very weird is I can do a scan and sometimes get Fox to tune in on a different channel (fox here is 11.1 but I can sometimes catch it on 36.1), then if I immediately save the channel lineup and then goto guide and tune Fox it will work. UNTIL... Until I tune in another HD channel, then I can't never get fox to come back.

Example. I will tune in fox just fine after a scan. Then I change the channel to cbs (18.1) it tunes in fine, then switch back to fox but it shows CBS. I then change to NBC (25.1) then go back to Fox and it shows CBS.

Another example is If I do a scan, then tune Fox, it works fine. Then I tune NBC (25.1) then go back to fox and it will show NBC, then I goto PBS (32.1 I think) then go back to fox and it will tune NBC.

It's like fox will work until I tune something else then it will latch onto the next tuned channel and wont let go of that channel until I do a scan.

I was able to watch the Superbowl in high def, I just couldn't change the channel at all, during the entire broadcast (not a big deal). But this also means that I can't timed record anything off fox, since sage wont tune it properly..

Thanks
Mike

sorry for the delay. I had to reinstall the Aver tv software I don't use it. But yes the software seems to tune in all the channels just fine. I did a scan it picked up all the channels including fox and tuned them just fine..

Thanks

Unhappy

So little more testing. As previously stated my AverTV software works fine and tunes and changes channels with no problems.

My SageTV is now totally ca-put... It won't tune and HD channel at all unless I go into the channel setup, hit the view button 4 or 5 times till it tunes the channel then hit watch on my remote which then watches that channel. I can then record and such, but sage cant change to any other HD channel on it's own..

Is there any kind of setting that I can for the averTV card to tune the channel a couple of times. It's almost like sage isn't sending the correct codes to the AverTV card to properly change the channels.

And still I can't get Sage to tune Fox (11.1) at all. I can tune it fine on on the AverTV software.

I'm pretty sure this is not a hardware problem..

Any help would be greatly appreciated this is killing me..

Thanks
Mike
