Seeking advice regarding IR Blaster Control of DCT2224
Hello,
I've recently upgraded from Sage verson 4 to version 6.3 and am noticing that my IR Blaster control of my DCT2224 seems much less reliable. In some 10% of recorded shows a channel digit is missed (so instead of channel 27 it records channel 7, for example). I've made many tests with the IR Blaster application and it seems to work perfectly, so I suspect a bug in whatever driver is resposible for the communications from Sage to the blaster. Sage tech support suggested re-installing the IR blaster and SageTV, which I have done without improvement. by the way, the serial port on my STB is not enabled and my local provider (Shaw) has refused to turn it on, which is why I am stuck with using the blaster. (I'll likely switch to StarChoice soon) thanks in advance for any ideas! Last edited by Coastal; 01-06-2008 at 05:52 PM. |

I have two Motorola boxes from Comcast. I control one with the Hauppauge IR blaster from PVR-150 and the other with USBUIRT. I have noticed that from time to time (about every 6 months) I have to adjust the delay between digits to get things to work reliably. Sometimes 300ms works best, and other times 400ms works best.
I am not sure if the reason for the change is due to upgrading Sage or to periodic updates that Comcast pushes to the cable box. Unfortunately, it usually takes me a while to realize there is a problem since I often keep shows for months before I watch them, so it is hard to pinpoint when it started. My advice is to try tweaking this setting, then go to live tv and keep pressing the channel up / channel down buttons to repeatedly change the channels and give it a real work out. If you can change channels 100 times in a row without a problem, you probably have the timing set properly. With my box, it displays the digits near the top of the screen as it receives them from the remote. If you try to tune to say channel 114 but you see "1" followed by "14" and then it goes to channel 14, or "11" followed by "4" and then it goes to channel 4, you have the delay set too long.

Hi, thanks for the tips. I've set my delay to 400ms and it seems stable so far.
