Weather on Main Page - How?
I have noticed a few screen shots of Main Menus that have the weather (actual icons and temperatures) on the front page. I am guessing this was done using Nielm 's dynamic menus? IS there any guidance out there on how to do this?
I saw instructions on how to add a menu item, but not how to add things like the Current recording, space left, or specifically weather. thanks alot, this would really help the WAF Happy new year jeff Last edited by jptheripper; 01-02-2008 at 09:01 AM. |

SageMC includes this feature and I think those are the screenshots you've been seeing.

The default STV has better acceptance in my family. I really want the weather on the front page, so I'm using sageMC for now.
I'd be interested if weather could easily be added to the default stv though. |

same here. i couldnt get qam to scan with sagemc, it kept askign which audio device i wanted to use with the tuner !!
odd. oh well, back on topic, if there is a way to get weather onto the main page of the default stv, id be in for it. |

I'd thoroughly recommend switching back to the default stv when you're setting up your sources. I've experienced several problems when attempting to configure dvb via sagemc that went away when I switched back to the derfault stv (then back to sagemc once the tuner config is done). Mick. |

This is my first try at Studio so please be kind. I have added the current conditions to the bottom right of the default SageTV3.xml. I will trying in the future to get it let you choose like the SageMC layout and make it an stv import. I don't have time for a little while but let me know what you think. Just copy SageTV3-weather-2.xml to STVs/SageTV3 directory and load it under setup.

sounds interesting, but the only place I have free is on the right between the date and the extra icons that come w/ the dynamic menus plugin. wonder how hard that would be to change.

Here is a view of mine using the Dynamic menus. I did use studio to move my icon location up a bit on the screen. If you want it higher on the right let me know and I can see what I can do. The location that it is now is where the disk usage menu would go. I thought of replacing the disk menu with the weather bar since it is now part of the unsupported feature set in SageTV already.

here's what I'd like to end up with, but I'll take what I can get of course. this is the local window on the server (hardly use it). the 2 extenders run 1080i and 480p.

Moving it around yourself is very easy. Just hit Shift,Ctrl, and F12 at the same time to open studio. Go down the list till you see Dynamic Main Menu by Nielm.
Click on the blue symbol that is a circle with a blue line. This should expand the Dynamic menu column. Toward the bottom of the Dynamic Menu list you should see a square with a square in it ant the title WeatherBar. Right click on WeatherBar and select properties. You should see towards the top an anchor X: and anchor Y: slide bars. You can change the location of the WeatherBar with those and the size with the Fixed Width: and Fixed Height: slide bars. Play around with those controls. When you get it the way you want it select OK. Be sure to save the XML file before you exit or maybe do a save as so you have the original file intact. |

not quite what I expected when i got into Studio. the weather item wasn't there under Dynamic menus after I imported that stvi into your xml. I'm out of time to play w/ it for now, but I'll keep at it. Stacking the icon over the text may prove interesting. good exercise for my mental acuity.

It may be under the Main Menu section I forgot I just added it by hand in my dynamic menu layout. I think it's still a good get your feet wet exercise. I have included a zip file with an updated stv and the weather in the upper right corner. Unfortunately you will have to import all your stvis again. I will work on making it movable like the SageMC version and making it an import. This will take a while since have a couple things I need to do first.

that looks great. thanks. when I imported the dynamic menus though the weather disappeared. I copied it from the main menu backup in studio to the dynamic main menu tree, but that didn't work. i'll poke around in the manual before I do much more w/ it.

I can post my dynamic menu stv if that would help you. The Dynamic menu is
all I have installed so you could then import anything else you want. |

thanks, but I think this is something I need to figure out. I've been procrastinating for too long about getting into Studio. If I get stuck I'll be sure to drop you a msg though

This is nice, thanks. An importable .stvi would be awesome...when Sage changes the STV, we'd just need to re-import. Thanks again.
