Turning off the encoder?

I have been trying out the demo and have a question.

I have a PMS PDI Deluxe input card that does not have hardware encoding, just plain input.

I already have a TIVO that does my pvr for me.

Is there anyway to turn off Sage's software encoding so I can just see a raw input untouched the same way dScaler4 let's me?

I dont need Sages pvr capabilaties but I would like to use the interface for everything else like dvd's and music. I would like it when I went to the MyTV section that I just see what is being fed to my input card.

Thanx in advance.

No. Like a Tivo, Sage always records what you're watching, and shows the playback of that recording on screen so you can pause, rewind, etc. So the encoder will be running whenever you're watching "live" TV.

What a bummer.

I really like Sage's interface. Would be a nice addition for those of us who already own pre-exsisting pvr's to be able to integrate them into Sage.

Is it so hard to make it an option to view a raw input? I know Sage's main purpose is to be a pvr but it would also be nice just to have a front end minus the pvr part. Gone are them days I guess....

Didn't your capture card come with some rudimentary software for viewing the live feed? If so, you could use the Dynamic Menus plugin to launch that software from within Sage.

The card was designed mainly for any software that uses WDM driver support. It didnt come with any software except a special build of dScaler4, but since then dScaler4 has added it into their supported cards in later releases.

Of course Sage implements this also because it can detect the card and encode from the signal it gets.

Thanx for the tip about the plugin. I'll hafta try it.
