Problem with audio in recording and watching live TV

I'm currently having a serious problem running SageTV version 6. The audio and video play back perfectly on startup of the player when I watch live TV. I can also record whichever channel the player starts on with no difficulty. As soon as I change the channel, however, the audio cuts out completely. I'm using an old ESS 1969 sound card, but the problem persists when I switch to using my onboard sound, so I don't think it's a sound card/driver issue. It seems to simply be a software malfunction.

I've searched and haven't come up with any way to fix this, and have now reinstalled the program twice to no effect.

This problem basically trashed the day's football games for me, so I'm kinda frustrated at this point . Any suggestions you guys could make would be greatly appreciated.
