Sagetv doesn't see my wintv ir device

I have a Wintv 150 pvr with the MCE remote. When I try to run setup and get to the ir setup I select usb-uirt. I get an immediate failed do to etc . The ir device is in device manager under Microsoft eHome infrared transciever. I have the remote icon in the system try. I am running Windows XP on an AMD X2 4800 with 2 gb memory and a Navida Gforce 7300 GT. I am a newbie to sagetv but was using this setup ok with Vista Ultimate (had to get rid of that combersome Vista). Any help would be appreciated

Do you want to setup the remote or the blaster?

If it is the remote, then you'll have to select MCE Remote within SageTV.

If it is the blaster: it is not supported directly by SageTV, you'll need a third party application.

Stéphane.

Re your reply

Thanks for the reply, I can't use the remote without the blaster right? (this may be a stupid question but it seems right to me ) So do you know where I might find the software that I need to support the wintv blaster? (by blaster you mean the ir device that changes the channels on my Sat Box). I appreciate your help with this, I kinda thought it was plug and play with the wintv pvr stuff. BTW I get the guide and picture ok just can't get any channel changes using the sagetv s/w.

You can use the remote without using the blaster. The remote receiver and the emitter (blaster) are physically on the same USB device. When you plug this USB device on your computer both the remote driver and blaster driver are installed.

Yes the blaster is the IR emitter that will change channel on your sat box. With a PVR150 you can have either : the MCE Remote & Blaster (connected on USB) or the Hauppauge remote receiver and blaster (connected to the PVR card), those are two different beasts. The Hauppauge receiver and blaster are directly supported by SageTV, wherea for the MCE Remote & blaster, only the remote part is supported by SageTV.

So if you have the MCE Remote & blaster, you can try my software (see signature). It will handle the remote and the blaster. It also include and SageTV plugin so as SageTV can use the MCE blaster.

For the remote part you'll need to:

* Set SageTV to use no remote
* Create a SageTV remote profile within my software (assign an action for each button press)

For the blaster part you'll need to:

* Learn your sat box IR code in my software and test them
* Install the plugin into SageTV (it's just copying files)
* Set up (again) your video source in SageTV to use my plugin for tuning your sat box.

You'll find detailed how to on my site.

Regards,
Stéphane.
