Eskape myTV.PVR Problems
I'm frustrated.
Mac Mini 1.67 intel Sage 6.2 I installed the 4.x and the 3.x software that came with the Eskape myTV.PVR. With 3.x I couldn't get video in Sage or MyTv. With the 4.x, I could get video perfectly with the MyTV, but Sage wouldn't recognize the device. As suggested on a different thread, I unplugged the USB and the Power and killed Trinity server and the Scheduler process... Nothing seems to work. I am aggravated. Any help would be appreciated. So the trick is....for me at least...install 4.x of the mytv software. unplug the usb and kill the Trinity server process....then...before starting SageTV, you have to restart the computer.
Now Sage is recognizing my tuner...and I even saw live television for a minute....but now whenever I try to watch live TV, it gives me this message: 'the connection to sagetv service has been lost. The connection will be reestablished once the Sage TV service restarts.' Any help is greatly appreciated. Tim |

Can you verify the model number on the PVR? It's on the bottom of the unit, it'll either be 29xxx or 24xxx. 24xxx units require version myTV.PVR 4.0.8. If you've had 3.6.9 installed, it may not have been removed completely, there's a deinstaller that comes with the software, make sure you run that to completely remove the driver from the system. If it's a 29xxx unit, try this sequence: - Start SageTV and remove the PVR capture source. - Bring up the prefs panel by pressing command+comma, switch to the Startup tab and tell it to startup manually - Quit SageTV - Unplug the USB and power cords from the PVR - Run the deinstaller that came with 4.0.8, it should be on the CD or disk image if you downloaded it - Reboot - Run the 3.6.9 MyTV/x app to install it, verify that it's working in MyTV/x and quit - Start SageTV (you can switch it back to automatic startup if you like) - Add the video source as you normally would. Pay attention to the device name, if it shows "myTV.PVR ()" with no text in the braces, then it's not working right and is guaranteed not to work. Last edited by iconic; 10-19-2007 at 10:25 AM. |

When I go to the Source Setup...it says:
MyPVR2 (2402-00-0048FC&) Im running the 24xx pvr with the 4.xx software. Any other ideas of what could be causing the problem? Also...the only way that the red light on the MyPVR comes on is if I start the MyTV program. Am I always going to have to start and quit the MyTV program for Sage to work properly? |

Lost connection to the SageTV service
I am trying to use a WinTV PVR USB2 model number 240xx and the MyTV/x software version 4.0.8. on an intel MAC mini. The MyTV/x application appears to work fine. I am unable to keep the wintv PVR working in SageTV V6.3.4 however. The program stops responding any time it tries to display live TV. The displayed message is Lost connection to the SageTV service. Also the red indicator light on the WinTV goes out at the same time. It seems this indicator shows the status of the firmware running on the WinTV.
Any ideas what I can try next to troubleshoot this? |

I am experiencing the same problem. I bought the bundle thru Sage, which comes with Hauppauge Mytv.pvr with MYTV/x software. I can watch tv thru the MYTV/x software no problem, but when I try to use Sage, I get the Sage server message.
I get that message when I use the cable port. If I try the S-video or Composite ports, I can watch tv thru Sage, but the quality is terrible. The colours area way off and picture quality is unwatchable. THANKS |

SageTv 6.2 to 6.3.5 beta problem with MyPVR continues
I am having the same problem. I am in contact with tech support but they are unable to help so far. The PVR is a version 24xxx which requires the 4.08 hHuppauge software. The error on the SageTv screen is the server is unavailable. What is happening is that the Sage service "serverctl" crashes as soon as it tries to tune a channel on the MyPVR. According to the crash logs this is because:
Link (dyld) error: Symbol not found: _ETVSetTunerAFTEnable Referenced from: /Applications/SageTV.app/Contents/Resources/Java/libSage.jnilib Expected in: /Library/Frameworks/EskapeTVSupport.framework/Versions/A/EskapeTVSupport So from this I would suppose that the SageTV software is trying to change the cable tuner channel and the call it is making in the Hauppauge frameworks is simply not there. I checked the verision 3.6.9 software that is not compatible with this hardware and it DOES have the _ETVSetTunerAFTEnable in the EskapeTVSupport framework. Too bad that Hauppauge version will not work with this hardware. Either Sage needs to patch or Hauppauge needs to patch. No sure whose mistake this is. Since the MyTV software works, I have to assume this is an oversight by Sage. They must not have tested this hardware and software combination. I have to take my PVR back to the store I bought it to get a refund before it is too late. I don't want to be stuck with hardware that is not compatible with Sage for Mac. Back to my crappy PC for now I guess. What bugs me is I bought the license for Sage for Mac. I will repost if I hear anything that is helpful. Bruce |

That's been fixed, it'll be in the next build. No ETA on that build yet unfortunately.

try contacting tech support via http://www.sagetv.com/support.html they tend to not monitor the forums, so directly talking to Sage people will probably be better.
