How can I record these HD channels?

Right now I have a STB connected by s-video to my nivida dual tuner card. But when I record I don't get a real HD recording. How can I record my HBO, showtime, etc. in HD. I know it can be done by fire wire, but my system does not have fire wire. Are there any other way to do it?

thanks

Look into the R5000. Bit pricey but, you can record the all the HD channels you subscribe to.

rdefino,

SageTV needs to get access to the HD signal while it's still compressed (typical data rate of 10-30 Mbps). Once a cable box has decompressed the data stream then you're dealing with data rates of up to 3.0 Gbps.

Let us know what cable or satellite service you are one and the forum can probably tell you if there is a HD-capture solution readily available to you.

Directv is out of the question

Cable, it all depends on what stb you have or can get.

Dishnet is 100% Go
