2 HVR-1600s or 1 HDHomeRun

I'm looking to be able to record high def, with potentially 2 channels at any given one time. i've got Time Warner Cable, and I'm already aware I can get most of the locals over ClearQAM. I know with Sage 6.2, I can potentially do this over either. Right now I've got a PVR-250 and a PVR-150 and i'm just looking for better quality, in terms of high definition and potentially over analog capture.

My question is, in terms of quality of picture and stability of setup - in everyone's option would 2 HVR-1600s or 1 HDHomeRun be a better setup? Does the HDHomeRun take any load off of the SageTV Server at all compared to the hardware encoding on the HVR-1600?

No question. 1 HDHR if you are only looking for QAM support. I have 1 of each. I am having so much trouble picking up all the QAM channels (I have 42 on the HDHR). I get about 10 on the 1600. I hope they improve QAM over this. Right now I am using the 1600 with just those 10 and analog. It is pretty decent analog. Quality of picture of the channels you get I think they are the same.

HDHRs are not the end all solution becaust they have their problems too but after setup, the HDHR.

One thing I would consider with HDHR is bandwidth of your network unless you are going to connect directly to server with 2nd NIC card.

I can't emphasize enough how much more reliable and better supported the HDHR is than most products in this space. Also, if at some point you go with other PVR software, it can be used with BTV, mediaportal, MCE, and a few others.
