DTVSerial w/ Patterson TV Translator no more channel changes at all? **solved**

OK, I am not sure that I changed anything between yesterday and today - I am fairly confident I did not touch my sage server at all. Today I find that every show recorded is the same channel. Now, hours later writing this as compared to when I started looking at the problem I cannot figure out what went wrong. Does anyone know about these errors in the beta log?

Code:
Thu 9/6 0:35:26.259 DTVSerial opened handle on port COM1
Thu 9/6 0:35:26.260 DTVSerial testing to see if baud rate is 115200..
Thu 9/6 0:35:30.260 DTVSerial response num=0 cmd[0]=0xfa cmd[1]=0x84 cmd[2]=0x0 cmd[3]=0x0 cmd[4]=0x0 cmd[5]=0x0
Thu 9/6 0:35:30.260 DTVSerial failed at 115200, reverting to 9600 baud.
Thu 9/6 0:35:30.268 DTVSerialX num=1 cmd[0]=0xf0.
Thu 9/6 0:35:30.279 DTVSerial new command set was detected num=1 cmd[0]=0x0.
Thu 9/6 0:35:30.279 DTVSerial new command set was detected num=1 cmd[0]=0x0.
Thu 9/6 0:35:31.780 DTVSerial new command set was detected num=0 cmd[0]=0x0.
Thu 9/6 0:35:31.780 DTVSerial wrote out a junk param
Thu 9/6 0:35:33.280 DTVSerial new command set was detected num=0 cmd[0]=0x0.
Thu 9/6 0:35:33.280 DTVSerial wrote out a junk param
Thu 9/6 0:35:34.780 DTVSerial new command set was detected num=0 cmd[0]=0x0.
Thu 9/6 0:35:34.781 DTVSerial wrote out a junk param
Thu 9/6 0:35:39.282 dtvSerialChannel(handle=3880, chan=202)
Thu 9/6 0:35:39.290 DTVSerial Valid Command Recognized for handle 3880
Thu 9/6 0:35:39.300 DTVSerial Unknown Command Response on handle 3880 of 0x0
Thu 9/6 0:35:39.300 DirecTV serial channel change failed!
Thu 9/6 0:35:39.300 Closing and re-opening the connection to the DirecTV receiver...

then it repeats:

Thu 9/6 0:35:40.303 DTVSerial response num=1 cmd[0]=0x0 cmd[1]=0x84 cmd[2]=0x0 cmd[3]=0x0 cmd[4]=0x0 cmd[5]=0x0
Thu 9/6 0:35:40.303 DTVSerial failed at 115200, reverting to 9600 baud.
Thu 9/6 0:35:40.311 DTVSerialX num=1 cmd[0]=0xf0.
Thu 9/6 0:35:40.321 DTVSerial new command set was detected num=1 cmd[0]=0x0.
Thu 9/6 0:35:40.321 DTVSerial new command set was detected num=1 cmd[0]=0x0.

so on and so on....
Here is what I know:
- Restarted server (many times)
- Restarted H20's several times (hard resets)
- Both Patterson tech devices test fine via config utility (one is COM1 and other is COM2)
- Both H20's / patterson TV translators are down with the same problem
- Swapped cables and translators - no change.
- TV translator utility DOES change the channel on testing between 101/201
- Both TV translators are at latest firmware.
- Tried dtvserialcontrol both old and new.
- Restored sage.properties from an older backup - just for the hell of it.
- Removed and re-added both video sources
- JRE is up-to-date
- Problem occurs on latest beta and also on previous beta. I did the latest upgrade tonight. This was working fine for several weeks, even on the betas. The problem did not start due to any upgrades or hardware changes that I know of.

My WAF has dropped to zero, I need to get to bed - I hope someone has seen this recently, I don't know what else to do. Those errors recorded in the log have to mean something to someone.....

I have some more info regarding the problem. The DTVcon program also has trouble changing the channels. It seems that other functions work OK like get signal strength and check date/time BUT when I hit a channel number it fails:

--> FA A5
<-- F0 Valid Command
--> 00 00 CD
<-- F2 Processing
<-- F5 Failed!

Has there been some sort of update with the H20's yesterday I wonder? Both TV translators are in the exact same boat. I also did a hard reset to factory defaults on one receiver to be sure.

Does anyone else have a TV translator on an H20 and if so, is it still working OK?

It seems maybe this is not a beta software issue, this thread can be moved to the regular SageTV support if someone seems this.

Thanks.

OK, so now I figured out that if you send the whole channel at once vs. hitting the "2" button it works OK via dtvcon. I think this is the same way SageTV sends the commands FA A6...

So, now I found an old DLL in thread 17888 and I figured I would try it. GUESS WHAT IT WORKED!!

So, something did change and I don't know what. If anyone else has H20 channel changing problems via Patterson make sure you try the OLD OLD directvserial DLL in that thread. Make sure you run at 9600 as well, at least for me that got rid of timeouts....

SOLVED.

This registry setting should also fix it with the V6.2.7 DLL:

(create as a DWORD)

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\SageTV\DirecTVSerialFastChannelChanges=1

I looked in thread 17888 and couldn't find the dll, someone please help. I had the same problem and thought it was something I did and could not fix the problem. If someone can please help me find the dll, i'd really appreciate it.
