Question About Recordings Management

Guys, I have two questions about managing TV recordings:

* If I record a series and select "Keep XX episodes" - will that series stop recording which it reach XX recorded episodes on my HTPC? So If I have reached XX recorded episodes, no more episodes will be recorded of that series?

* If I set a series to delete when I need free space, how many episodes will it delete when I do need free space? Will it only delete episodes from a particular series or delete episodes from a couple of series?

It will continue to be recorded but older episodes will be deleted

It will delete the oldest recording of any favorite which is set to AutoDelete. When creating a favorite you can set AutoDelete to manual so Sage will not automatically delete any recordings of this favorite.

In relation to my first question, it seems that Sage stops recording when XX episodes have been reached.

For example - I have Show ABC set to keep only 1 episode. If I have that one episode under Recorded Tv, it will not run the next scheduled recording. As soon as I deleted that one episode I already have, the next scheduled recording of Show ABC automatically came back on.

Can anyone confirm/deny this is the correct behaviour or if I'm doing something wrong?

yes, if you have not allowed it to delete the shows.

If you have allowed it to auto-delete the shows, it will maintain the latest XX episodes, deleting old ones once a new one is recorded..

BTW: for future reference, there is a PDF manual in your SageTV install directory -- Favorite Details, on p. 70 of the v6.1 manual, covers the various Favorite settings, and Appendix C gives more info about deletion of files when space is needed.

Thanks Andy, I reread it again after posting my question and the answer is there.

I just noticed strange behaviour (recordings didn't get deleted and new show wouldn't get recorded) but I think thats solved now.
