No internet, how can I update epg?

Hi, i've researched for a while and can't find much on this topic, just some info pointing to maybe being able to use xmltv, but the gist is, I currently do not have the internet, is there a way to download the guide info at work and take it home to update my epg?

thanks

About the only thing you could do is run something at work that downloads/creates guide data in an XMLTV format, then bring that resulting XML file home, and use one of the XMLTV plugins to import that data into Sage.

I wrote from work. No wifi, nothing. No access to the internet until I get satellite internet installed in a few months. What program or site is everyone using to get thier xml guide info? I'm hoping for something that will be comparable to sage's guide info, I'm really missing sage.

Would it be possible to install Sagetv on my work computer, and download sage's epg, then copy the epg folder and put it onto my home computer to have an updated epg? or have sagetv running on an external drive, that i can take to work and run it to download epg?

Mainly no.

Firstly, There will be licenceing issues (2 installations)

Secondly you cannot download EPG data without a tuner (There is a 'fake' tuner app available in the studio forums to work around this)

Thirdly, Sage's DB is for everything -- EPG, recordings, favorites, so you would have to take your home DB (wiz.bin file) to work, update it then take it home. While you are at work, you either stop sage from recording things, or overwrite the home DB with the updated DB from work, and hope that things recorded at home will sync up with the new updated DB.

Fourthly, Sage requires a DIRECT internet connection to sage's servers (not web/http) for the DB update. If you have an outgoing firewall, then it will not update.

Trust the previous replies: use XMLTV -- download the XMLTV epg for your lineup at work, take it home and use an XMLTV importer to add the new data to your Sage DB.

The latest XMLTV uses the new schedules direct service which is $15/3months. There are currently no freely available EPGs for north america (other than the service included with Sage)

56k dialup? If you know someone with DSL they should have dialup access they probably have never even used.

There are free internet providers such as netzero. You must use less then 10 hours per month which should be plenty for just downloading an EPG. The first EPG download could take a while but the others should only take about 10 minutes or so.
