caught my eye too, but at this point I can't get too excited about it. would be nice if the HD MVP was around the corner.

6.2.6 Media Extender HD?

One of the items in the RC description is :

2. Added proper pixel aspect ratio calculation for variable resolution media extenders

What's a variable resolution media extender?

Variable Resolution Media Extender

Variable = apt or liable to vary or change
Resolution = the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action
Media = a longitudinal vein in the middle portion of the wing of an insect
Extender = a substance added to another substance, as to paint or food, to increase its volume or bulk

So, obviously it may or may not be a plan to add insect wing veins to SageTV in order to make the download bigger. Or they may have some impact on performance and make your system fly.

MVP-HD Quest

Ok, I am new at the HD MVP quest. I have had sage for 18 months running on an XP server, 3 tuner cards, and 3 MVPs. Runs great (aside from having to reboot the pc about once a week to clean out cache or something).

I have researched on the Google there are Netgear and Linksys HD media extenders. Is it simply that Hauppage and SageTV have not caught up. Or is that they have developed a proprietary process that cannot leverage the other hardware.

I think the only people who can truly answer that to the fullest are the Sage Developers. I am sure a lot of it has to do with finding a developer who will work with Sage in order to accomplish this. Currently you could use most HD media extenders with Sage as long as you use them as file browsers. Obviously though Sage wants to implement this like they did the MVP's and make them have a Sage front end.

All I know is they need to have the HD Extenders ready before the Christmas season....oh and my wife had better get me one!
