Video Card?
I'm about to build my first STV server... and of course I want it to be at least a bit "future-proof". Probably choosing an AMD 6000+ 3.0GHz (since Sage specify that for HD content, right?) and 2Gb of memory.
But what about the video card? Excuse my non-knowledge, but WHEN is the server using the video card if I'm using 3 MVPs (hopefully HD ones, soon ) Is it used in some transition before moving the content into the cable...? |

Sage's specification for a 3Ghz CPU for HD content is regarding playback of the content if you don't have a good video card. The better the video card and codec, the less powerful a CPU you can get away with.
If you aren't watching video on the server, then you won't need a powerful video card. The server's video card is not used to send content to a MVP, SageClient or Placeshifter. If you are going to watch content on the MVP or Placeshifter, then having a powerful CPU in the server would be a good idea.
