6.2.5 ClearQAM HVR-1600 questions
Congrats on "2. Added ClearQAM support for HVR-1600"!! Question though. Which connection on the HVR-1600 would the ClearQAM input go into? Would it use the Analog connection, Terrestial connection, or both? And can it switch easily between a QAM channel and a terrestial channel using the same connection or can the connection do only QAM exclusively or terrestial exclusively?
Also, what does "17. Various DVB/Transport Stream bug fixes" mean? Are there any other specifics or things we can test out?

I don't think they are the fixes. I think they just highlighted #17 to indicate it is something to note in the massive list they have.

Have people had luck doing a scan using QAM with the HVR-1600?
1. How does SageTV handle those channels that don't have channel names found in the channel scan? 2. Do you have to do anything differently to configure it from being an OTA source to being a QAM source?

I set up my tuner as digital OTA and did a scan. It took forever but I got a good 50 QAM channels found (Houston Comcast).
The quality is great, but I'm having a couple of problems: 1. How do you assign EPG channels to the QAM channels? SoapNet is 77-11 but I need to find a way to tell the EPG to use the SoapNet channel listings for this physical channel. 2. I'm having huge problems with stuttering and eventual freezing, especially with HD. My rig should be powerful enough (C2D 3.0ghz, 2GB RAM, 8500GT vidcard) but I can't seem to find a fix. I'm thrilled to have this "working" -- but I'm curious what could be wrong with my rig to make it lock-up on the HD content... |

Watch the Nvidia stuff
I'd take a look at the nVidia drivers for the 8500. I get periodic issues with my 6200 LE using the stock drivers 85.something. I tried going to the newer drivers 94's, and they would lock up the system after a few minutes. The new beta drivers are better but they still lock up so I'm stuck with the older drivers.
I've had more problems with these nVidia drivers than I ever had with my old ATI cards. |

Could it be a codec problem? What codec does QAM use?

your mpeg 2 codec. Which is?

So if I hook up my cable to the ATSC tuner and scan for channels, I should get all of the digital ones that are broadcast through the cable even though I don't have a cable box?
I did this on my Panasonic plasma and it worked, just wonder if I should get the same result on the HVR-1600 ATSC tuner. |

The nVidia codec. I'll try changing to the Sage default and see if that helps.

Is it hard set to NVidia or set to default? If you play a video SageTV in a windowed mode, do you see an NVidia icon show up in the systray?

Guys, which version of the drivers are you using?
I having problems with a few of the channels. My dad's HDTV is working fine on all of them, but I'm getting some breakup on a few of the digital channels. (We're hook to the same channel, and I normally get the better picture on analog channels. Signal is 76 - 79% in the preview window. |

no sound or video
Any ideas? I did a scan and got 33 channels. When i go and try to view the channel via the program guide, i hit 'Watch now' - the purevideo icon shows in the tray, and the timeline is moving, but there is no video or sound. I have tested HD playback on some downloaded files and it works ok, and did the firewire. Only have a 6200 card, but at least got some video.
Thanks for any insight. |

got it. i had the same lineup on an s-vid input, so it was looking for that. Works ok now. Can get the channels, but need a stronger signal to get it consistent. It is split 4x at the point. Also, need to figure out how to map and get the EPG data. Does not come in for most of the channels, but sure a search will clear that up.
edit== ok, i have to ask, how do i do mapping in sage with the 1600? I tried logical and physical mapping and while it moved it to the channel, I am still unable to get EPG data. For example, on cablevision in CT I have CW11 scanned as 11-1 (80-11-1). The channel on the cablevision system is 711. So i map to that. I can get the picture, but not the EPG data. Any trick to that? Thanks Last edited by sabre; 08-05-2007 at 09:35 PM. |

If it's anything like the HDHR, you'd remap the physical channel for CW (Virtual 711) to 80-11
