multiple hauppage cards remote/ir woes

Hi all

I'm probably being an idiot. I've searched and searched and can only find awkward circa 2005 batch file solutions ...

I have a pvr-250 and a hvr-1600 and I cant get either of the remotes to work in sage.

I'd like to use the hvr-1600's new 45 button remote if possible

any tips on getting this working?

I installed the latest IR software from the 3.4b cd download from the hauppauge site which got rid of the "failed to initialize remote hardware" message but still no joy in Sage ...

What exactly isn't working? Is the remote only working with the Hauppauge IR software or is it not working at all? If you restart ir.exe & load a blank file called "debug.txt" in Notepad & make sure it has focus, does it show anything when you press buttons on the remote?

If it just isn't working to control SageTV, see this FAQ.

confused

it may be too late for me to think ... thanks for your reply opus

I restarted IR ... opened notepad saved a file w. name you specified to desktop (is that right?) ... made sure it was currently the live app ... tried the remote ... nothing ....

Remote does nothing in win TV either

I must admit I'm wholly confused having added this second tuner ... in sage the hvr-1600 says it has no signal and can't tune channels ... in winTV I can tune but cant tell which card I'm using (250 or 1600)

I've double checked batteries and cable lines (swapped 250 to 1600 ... 250 still works 1660 ... no signal still)

I have an old actisys 200L ... will that help at all .... I don't see it as an option in sage anymore (6.1.9)

it sucks not having remote control !

using power button on hauppage 45 button then requires IRrestart ...

Ok so HVR1600 now working.

New remote is now working ... though it seems sluggish compared with the older hauppage remote on my pvr250...

this aside I have a problem where every time I use the green power button (set to sleep sage) this seems to disable the IR ... the remote no longer works until I do a "restart IR" ...

this fixes it but it's a bit annoying to keep having to do this...

anyone got an ideas?

actisys 200L

Oh ... I also have an actisys 200L serial to IR reciever

Is there a way to use this with the hauppage 45 button remote?

Any chance it might solve my sluggishness issues or my power button issue?

What software is required for this device ... it seems it used to be "built in" but no longer seems to be an option in the sage remote control settings ...

I think it is because you are using screen saver mode when SageTV is put to sleep, but the ini files I use & posted are expecting SageTV to sleep in the system tray, so it exits SageTV mode when put to sleep via the power button. There were some posts somewhere around here regarding this issue. (Be sure to check posts before & after that one.)

I believe that is only an IR transmitter, so there wouldn't be an option to use it as a receiver for your remote. (Appendix F in the PDF manual.)

200L

Many thanks, Opus, you are a font of all knowledge ... I can't even find things by searching that you seem to have at your fingertips...

I do think the 200L is bi-directional:
http://www.actisys.com/ac200-220.html

Possibly Sage support was only ever in "blaster" mode.

I'll play around with it and see if I can get anything working.

I'll change the sleep behavior setting too - thanks again
