DVD Navigation Highlighting - Has this been fixed in the new beta

Ever since I switched my SageTV client to Vista, the highlighting you see in DVD menus is gone. The navigation itself works, but I can't tell what is selected in the Menus. I am in Overlay mode the highlighting should show up.

I have tried multiple codecs including Purevideo, PowerDVD's, SageTV, and the Nvidia Post Processor. If I open the same DVD in PowerDVD the highlighting works perfectly.

This occurs in the standard STV as well as SageMC.

Others have the issue too as seen in these posts with XP as well as Vista

Has this been fixed in the latest beta?

I am having the same problem. I told SageMC to use an external DVD player and edited the dvd_player.cmd in the SageMCE directory to launch PowerDVD when I hit the play DVD menu in SageMC. Here is what I put in there:

"C:\Program Files\Cyberlink\PowerDVD\PowerDVD.lnk" E:

I had to create a shortcut to PowereDVD.exe in the PowerDVD directory. I then went to the shortcut properties and told it to open maximized and told the cmd file to open the shortcut instead of the exe file or it would open in a small window every time.

I got the idea for running PowerDVD externally from part of this post http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19125. Thanks Jim

Yeah, that would only apply to VMR9. If you're having trouble with overlay, it's probably worth a bug report.

I couldn't test it because in all the jacking around with sage trying to get it to work I screwed something up. Its now just black in sage when I try to play a DVD in sage. I was using overlay so it probly wouldn't fix it anyway. Now I just need to get the remote working with PowerDVD. I will probably send a bug report tomorrow.

I tried to fix it by restoring a backup of my sage.properies but that didnt help. Any clue on what to try to get it back?

Edit: I did a system restore and this seemed to fix it. Unfortunately it also undid all my mods I set up since the last working restore point but mainly that was my HIP stuff and that will only take about an hour to fix.

stanger:

I tried that reg fix and found out I am doing overlay. What do I need to have to run VMR9 since my current setup doesnt seem to like it?

I had the same problem, However I did the basic same things opy01. The only difference is I updated the Girder gml's to detect and load the proper profiles.

OK I upgraded my system to a duel core with the nvidia 8600GTS and tried installing the intervideo codec that came with my video card. It crashed Vista!

I create system restore points before anything I do on the new PC but after the crash all my restore points were gone. After fighting with all of this for days I finally went back to PowerDVD and the shortcut method that I posted above. I found all the shortcut keys in the Help part of PowerDVD and programed them into IR Server Suite and so far it works perfect.

I would suggest you get a copy of Acronis True Image rather than the built in Windows restore. I've used it for quite a while now and it has worked flawlessly for me. I even have it setup to backup my system on monthly schedule and my SageTV directory daily. There are others like Ghost, but this has worked well for me.

I have an older version of Acronis and I love it for cloning but its never really worked out for me backing up the computer its installed on. This may not be an issue with newer versions but I will have to give it a try. I am using Vista and the system restore seems so much better than XP, I just cant figure out where the first restore points disapeared to. It also seems like after the crash capturing in Sage seems to randomly slow way down until Sage shuts down. Once I start it back up its fine but I may end up reformatting anyways and using Acronis since I have all my videos on a seperate HD.
