Tuner card recommendations
I’m looking to add more tuners to my system. Right now I have 1 Hauppauge PVR-500. I am reluctant to buy another PVR 500 since I believe it is the culprit giving me poor quality recordings.
What tuner card recommendations do you have? Preferably dual, but if I’ll get better results using a single tuner then I’m game. BTW, I'm only recording SD. Thanks for your input! Last edited by wrems; 06-18-2007 at 06:43 PM. |

I really like my AverTV Purity 500 MCE and the Nvidia DualTV has gotten rave reviews but the problem with both is that they are discontinued. If you can find the Nvidia card I would jump on it. My AverTv (Avermedia) dual tuner is waaayyy better than my PVR500 when it comes to lower signal strength.

I bought a Nvidia DualTV a few months ago & I'm very pleased with it. I think where the DualTV really shines is when you have a marginal signal & are going straight coax into the card. It seems to clean up the image better & produce a sharper picture than my Hauppauge PVR-150 & since it's probably easier to get a ride to the moon than adjust the sharpness on the 150/500, the DualTV is the way to go.
You'll notice some people will say that the PVR-150 looks as good or better than the DualTV & others will say the opposite. I think the reason for the difference in opinion is because some people are sending a clean signal from their STB into the PVR-150 so they don't notice any difference. Like I said before, the DualTV seems to clean up the signal better than the PVR-150 when connecting coax straight to the card, especially if you have a marginal signal. Other people have said the same thing on different forums. Pcalchemy.com shows that they still have the DualTV in stock. |

Because analog TV (as we know it) is going to be discontinued soon.
Im sure someone can provide the details.
