how to do a complete clean uninstall / reinstall

I'm really starting to have lots of problems with Sage and plugins.

I have audio problems...I have menus that don't work. Comskip seems to work sometimes and not otthers. Webserver no longer works on my system. The movie guide is not working correctly..

Most of this started when I installed 6.1.19.

So, may be a good time to clean everything off and start over...

I am using 6.1.9....webserver, dynamic menus, movie plugin, comskip, fast forward/ reverse plugin...what is the best way to completely remove anything to do with sage and sage plugins and start over?

And don't get me wrong...I'm very happy with Sage...I assume that I messed stuff up when installing things...

Best way to reinstall Sage is to save your wiz.bin and properties files and uninstall, reinstall, replace files, and go. Probably want to change the properties file to point back to SageTV3.xml though.

But it sounds like you've got problems outside of Sage. Comskip has nothing to do with Sage, if it's not working you've got problem elsewhere. Audio sounds like mucked decoders.

This FAQ covers a complete reinstallation done to try to solve problems. If you are trying to get rid of problems where you don't know what might be causing the issue, be sure not to keep your old properties file because some property values could be what need to be fixed.

In this case I would just try deleting the properties file (after saving it) and see if that solves the problem. Re-installing is such a chore. I would also save the entire Sage folder.

Best advice I have picked up from someone on the forum...

1) Rename your SageTV folder to Sage TV2.
2) Reinstall Sage
3) Copy over Wiz.bin and wiz.bak into new SageTV folder
4) Go through the setup process so as to recreate the properties file.

Anything goes wrong, just drop the "2." Need any files you forgot, they are all there in SageTV2.

Once all is working, delete SageTV2.
