intermittently not waking from hibernate
I'm having some problems with sage waking up from hibernate for scheduled recordings. I just lost a recording this morning because it didn't wake up to start it, so I made a test recording and went to hibernate ... and it promptly woke back up and began recording as it should. No, it wasn't an intelligent recording either (my tastes are too picky so I turn that off). It's also apparently having problems with the service, because when I wake back up, I get a message about it couldn't connect to the service, which goes away after 5 seconds or so. I suppose, but I'm not certain, if the service crashes before hibernating, that it wouldn't be waking back up?
Should I use SageWake instead and manually restart the sage service, or is there some state I should ensure before hibernating, like making sure the client is suspended (or not) or not on "Live TV" or something? FWIW, it's SageTV 6.1 on XP MCE (all of the eh* services are disabled), ATI TV Wonder 650 and X1950 AGP. |

I used to have that problem. What solved it for me was the level of hibernation. As I understand it, If there is some piece of hardware that prevents Windows from implementing ACPI, then APM takes over. In APM power management, hibernation is S3. In ACPI it is S4. My system has never failed to S4 hibernate if I let it shut itself down.
Check your power management level, MOBO jumpers, BIOS setting and Admin privliges. All these can prevent ACPI.

My system goes to hibernate just fine -- SageTV just wasn't waking it back up. I just use SageWake now, which works fine, and gives me a little more control over pre/post hibernate task management to boot (I kill and restart the client with it, which seems to make things more reliable).
