Anyone consider using a wireless tablet like this to control SageTV?

I have sagetv, but so far have used it only in the "computer room". I'm now thinking about taking it to the living to use with the TV. I was first thinking of getting a wireless keyboard and mouse, then thought maybe a remote control instead, and then decided maybe a Bluetooth tablet to control sage would be interesting - such as this.

I know certain versions of Vista are tablet aware and the fact that this is wireless could also be nice. It's expensive though - and even though I know Windows, it sure would be nice to run Linux instead.

Just wanted to know what others thought of using a tablet as a "remote". I have a widescreen tv (1080p LCD), and it doesn't look like this particular tablet is "widescreen" format - which could be a problem.

You could do it, but I think it would be really annoying. Since your display doesn't show up on the actual tablet, it would be hit or miss that you "tap" the right spot on the tablet especially when Sage "hides" the mouse icon (when not using the tablet in some time) and you don't remember where you "left off".

What about a older second hand tablet PC, not the convertable laptops but those pure tablets that everybody hated. I bet you can pick them up cheap. Cobine that with netremote and HiP or Girder and I bet you could do some pretty cool stuff.

cruising the net at random the other day and I stumbled across this guys site:
http://www.moesrealm.com/hometheater/netremote.html

A ton of advertising everywhere, but some nice writeups on what he is doing and how. The link I gave is is to his page on his "remote", not a writing tablet like you mentioned, but rather a touchscreen tablet pc running netremote/girder. Very nice setup that controls everything he has. A new tablet would be pricey, but you can find used ones pretty cheap if you look around at all the usual places.

Have you guys tried using the tablet as a remote? My current setup has my tv and stereo in the same room but I will be moving the tv and would like to have the tablet as a remote for audio. How well did it work?
