True - False Files

I just updated to 6.19 and noticed that when the MVP client starts it is putting the following .mpg files in the sagetv directory.

It was using a file name of TRUE1 TRUE2 etc.

Now it is generating a file by the name of False.mpg etc.

I also turned logging off yet it is still logging?

Odd as hell, any ideas?

Thanksd

Do you have any customizations installed? If so, try it w/o using any customizations.

Opus, I have no customizations running.

I turned those off back when I was having the lockups occur per Sage's instructions.

I have turned off the extender for now until I have some resolution to this problem.

Thanks

Support is telling me that a plugin is causing the true-false.mpg files to be created.

I have no customizations loaded on the MVP, only on the client running on the server, should I disable this customization on that client as well or is there some other location to check for plugins that are installed.

Thanks for your help

You might be running with the customization and not realize it. On the MVP, go to where you load the STV and verify that you are running SageTV3.xml and not SageTV3-#.xml (where the # is 1, 2, 3, ...). Just to make sure, you can explicitly load SageTV3.xml.

Aloha,
Mike

MeinMaui-

Thanks for the reply, I did verify that I was running the SageTV3.xml file and not some variant.

It did occur to me that a few months ago I toyed around with one of the other customizations out there, namely Malores menus, is it possible that this might have made changes to the defualt .xml file?

I thought that the upgrade to Sage installed a clean version of this file, can anyone verify this for me?

THanks again for all of the help.

I think Opus4 has posted the latest version of the default STV in the downloads section. You could download and load that one to be sure there aren't any stealth customizations hanging around.

Nope that wasnt it.

Made no difference, still creating false.mpg files in the sagetv root directory.

What the heck is causing this, I cant beleive no one else has seen this before.

Perhaps I should ask for this thread to be moved to the customizations forum?

You may have added some customization that loads Java code at startup -- did you add files to the JAR subdirectory of the SageTV install dir? Did you add anything in sage.properties to laod something at startup? Basically, double check all the customizations that you've used & make sure they are actually disabled or removed.

Do you have any utilities running in the background?

I don't remember hearing about an issue like this, so I don't know what might be causing it.

the property file entry to look for is:
load_at_startup_runnable_classes
it is blank in a standard install

Nielm-

Both the sageproperties and the sageclient properties have nothing after these entries.

I do however have a bunch of jar files in the \\sagtv\jars directory.

I am considering doing the following.

1: Backup everything in the \programfiles\sage directory
2: Uninstall Sage
3: Wipe the directory
4: Re-Install Sage
5: Restore wiz file

WOuld this get me back to a clean install without loosing my recordings etc?

Thanks in advance

That sounds similar to the complete reinstallation FAQ. I would say to dump the properties files in the 'clients' subdirectory of the SageTV install dir, but this should take care of that too.

Have you tried removing the properties files in the client subdir already?

Thanks for the link Opus.

That is what I am going to do. What about my license key, will I have to re-enter that as well?

Thanks

Shouldn't have to, unless you decide to reformat and reinstall the OS along the way.

That did the trick, although the stuttering issues are now back.

I will get those resolved elsewhere, thanks again for all of the help
