elecard codec and audio sync

i have been using the elecard codec recently because the picture quality i have found to be MUCH better than that of my windvd or powerdvd codecs.

the only problem i seem to be having though is that after a period of time (usually 30 mins or more) the audio and video will begin to lose sync.

any ideas how i can remedy this other than changing channels or hitting pause and rewinding for a couple of seconds and playing from that spot?

man i wish elecard would hurry and implement dxva!!!!

Are you using just Elecard or Elecard and DScaler? If you are using DScaler are you using Double Refresh?

nope, yep and yep!

i'm probably pushing my system too far with the double refresh, aren't i?

my sage usage seems to hover around 45 to 55% with spikes up into the 70's

my biggest bottleneck is memory though as i currently only have 128mb onboard since i had to pull out a bad stick - oh and my vid card is only a radeon 7000 too.

ps. currently using elecard 2.1 but 2.0 did the same thing too.

Yeah it is the double refresh that is doing it. I have a 1Ghz (512 RAM) and if I do anything to much I can loose sync. Usually if I am good though it is ok. More memory may help your CPU a bit.

BTW, I think if Elecard implements DXVA we won't be able to use DScaler anymore. Not sure though.

it would be great if dscaler could use dxva that would be a great match.

are you still using elecard with no dscaler and no deinterlace? i tried that and the results were good for average tv but didn't fare too well with sports or the disney shows that my kids like to watch.

also i think i read that you have the sonic codec installed, if so how does that picture quality compare with elecard?

i'd install the sonic decoder pack but i'm not positive that it will work with win2k (no reason why it shouldn't) but i can't find any literature that will tell me that it will work with something other than win XP.

No deinterlacing looks great unless, like you say, there is lots of motion. With the Elecard I use DScaler\VideoWeave\Double Refresh. I do have the Sonic decoders from my TheaterTek installation and with DXVA it is not bad. The only problem with those decoders is they seem slow for some reason. FF\REW is sluggish. Video wise they are better than the Intervideo with DXVA (clearer image) but not as good with motion scenes. The Intervideo ones with DXVA are good with motion scenes but the image is the grainiest of all codecs I have used.

For picture quality I still like the Elecard\DScaler combo. When I get my HDTV I think it will be even better .

couldn't agree with you more, there!

i too need to step up to HDTV to get the most out of this thing but right now my picture (on a 53" sony rptv) is pretty satisfying and the convenience of having an audio video jukebox plus couch internet access is awesome

thanks for your help.
