MacBook Pro Battery Consumption

Has anyone noticed while running SageTV Place Shifter in fullscreen that the battery goes to reserve in about 20 mins from a full charge?

Performance is set to Better Battery Life.

You can try disabling Video Post Processing to reduce CPU load and increase battery life. However, if the battery is draining in 20 minutes, there's probably something wrong with the laptop. Even with the CPU pegged, you should at least get 1.5 hours out of the battery. Maybe you need to recalibrate the battery in the "BIOS" (OpenFirmware)

Is the battery actually draining or is your computer just shutting down because it thinks it's low on power?

When you are wathing TV, what is your CPU usage?

On my MacBook (2Ghz Core Duo), mplayer uses around 45% and SageTV placeshifter uses around 8%. Total is around 53% on average.

I just tested this out and I get about 1.2, maybe 1.3 hours of Live TV on a fully charged battery. My power settings are also set to "Better Battery Life".

Cheers,

I just downloaded and ran coconutbattery. Looks like my battery is defective. Capacity is not where it should be.
