Mac Placeshifter Question - Customize

Anyone know where to customize the connection on a Mac Placeshifter? On the windows version you can change what the auto setting does. For instance in the Windows version you can set the .ini file so that using Dynamic Streaming will adjust the video/audio bitrate but keep a D1 resolution. Any place to do this in the Mac version?

Thanks!

This does not allow for what I'm talking about. On the pref pain you can choose Dynamic Encoding...but you cannot choose Dynamic Encoding forced at D1 resolution. There is a big difference and I always make the change in the .ini file on the Windows version.

the "ini" file on the mac is a hidden file in your user's home directory. It is in a hidden .sagetv directory. If you open terminal, ls -la will show you all hidden files and directories. You can edit the file in terminal by typing
Code:
pico ~/.sagetv/SageTVPlaceshifter.properties

this works well. the only thing is I get some stutter when running Norton Autoprotect. Anyone know all the resources and/or temp cache/storage used by Placeshifter that I can add to the 'ignore' list for Autoprotect? Thanks!

The cache folder is in the same directory.

Using sudo fs_usage -w > ~/Desktop/usage.txt I found auto-protect process readings lots of files in /private/tmp/stvXXXXXX.dat where the XXXXXX is a number that is different for every show I watch. I think the cache folder in the .sagetv is only for thumbnails. I think /private/tmp/ is where the files being streamed go. Once I ignored this directory all stuttering stopped. I wish I could ignore with a wildcard for that dir like stv*.dat instead of the whole dire.

Interesting, I wonder if there is an option for setting the temp directory. You could push it a level lower or move it to your home directory. Might be worth an email to support.

While there are very few known viruses on a Mac, I wouldn't want to be caught with my pants down. Apple's popularity will surely invite a closer look.

Norton for Mac also catches all the Windows viruses ... so if you work in a mixed environment it is nice to use your immune Mac to help clean files before they reach your Windows boxes.
