MAC / PC / sage tv + placeshifter ?
Hi, I have a sage tv media center on a pc in my living room, I have a sage tv client for my laptop (pc) and i'm planning on buying an imac.
If i understand all product correctly i would have to buy a placeshifter for mac to watch what's on my htpc with sage tv? Also, if I want to watch stuff from my htpc from the web with my laptop, i would have to replace my sage tv client by a sage tv placeshifter? Thanks Pat |

You'll need a Placeshifter license on your SageTV server to use Placeshifter on your iMac. The software download is free; the license is what you pay for.
You can also install the Windows version of Placeshifter on your laptop, but you don't need to remove SageTVClient to do it. You can have both installed on the same machine, and use whichever one suits your whim of the moment (e.g. Client at home, Placeshifter on the road). If you never need to run both Placeshifters at the same time, then one Placeshifter license is all you need. So buy one license, install it on your server, and then download both Placeshifter clients (Mac and Windows) for your various client machines.

That's about right. Although, you could keep the client license on your laptop and not replace but use when at home.
Also, the Apple Remote will work with SageTV PlaceShifter. And since it magnetically attaches to the side of the iMac, pretty convenient. B |
