Question Are .TS files still supported?

I read a post from Narflex that says not to record transport stream files any more as it is no longer supported. I've seen nothing in any of the release notes about this. Perhaps this is in response to a particular scenario and isn't a general statement. Nevertheless I'm worried.

I record my HiDef shows from an HDHR exclusively as .TS shows. This has been much more stable both in Sage and in ShowAnalyzer than recording as program streams. I'd be concerned if we no longer had .TS support....

Can someone from Sage clarify the situation here please?

Andy.

Andy,
Do you have the link of where Narflex mentioned this? I'm curious about it too.

PLAYBACK OF TS FILES IS DEFINITELY SUPPORTED. I was only referring to that specific property setting that people were changing that would cause local capture devices to record in transport stream format instead of program stream. Network encoders are still free to encode to whatever format they want.

Ok
Since the HDHR is a network encoder, TS is ok ? is there any way to make it capture QAM or OTA in PS format or does it matter. I have set my (mmc/encode_digital_tv_as_program_stream=true) and the HDHR still records in TS format but my Divco local tuner now records in PS.
Perhaps you could clarify what is or is not normal/prefered specificaly for us HDHR users.
Dave

I have also had a issue using a HDHomerun to record TS streams. On the server machine I can scrub the video whether it is playing live or a file. When I try to playback a file on a client machine using Placeshifter on a local network I am not able to scrub through the recording. If I use Placeshifter outside my local network I can scrub through the recordings. When the TS files get transcoded it is then possible to scrub through it. Scrubbing also works if the TS file is converted to something else. I was also able to get the TS files to scrub if I used SageTVClient to play them back. I put in a request for tech support describing my issue and this is the reply I got.

Eric,

The HDHomerun is not supported and the files it creates will not work in Placeshifter, SageTV Client might
work better, but it's not guaranteed.

After reading some of the previous posts and having my own issues with HDHomerun and TS files it's a little confusing to know what is and is not supported in regards to HDHomerun and TS files.

"On the server machine I can scrub the video "

Just curious, what is "scrub the video"? Commercial skip processing maybe?

In case you've missed it, there is a response about this here.
