Tv Translators / D11-500
I am having an awful time trying to get Sage / Directv D11-500's set up to change channels in Sage.
There was a long thread previous about it and I have tried all of the suggestions that I have been able to find. I have updated the firmware in the TvT's, correctly I believe. Baud is locked at 9600. Ports are setup correctly. I can change the channels through the tvt program, and also the DTV control.exe application. When I try and change the channel in Sage, there is a small pause like it is changing, but then the channel stays on whatever it was on, doesn't change. I assume the pause is from Sage starting a new stream of data to the hard drive thinking the channel has changed, well I don't assume that, I know that by watching the recording folder when I change channels. I have tried the older .dll posted by Hector, no difference, I have tried to update to the newest release candidate, no difference. I really don't know what my next step is to resolve this. Thanks for any help. |

I'm either half dumb or just half stupid. I tried it once more before going to bed and now it works. Will have to try the other 2 tomorrow and see if they now work and i've just been screwing around for the last 2 nights...

What I have noticed on mine, if you don't turn off the receiver when you hook up the TVT it won't work.

Yes, power cycling the receiver always seems to help, I had a similar problem when setting mine up, though I'm using much older ones

Yep- same here.....recycling power to the receivers as well as a 'friendly' reboot of the PC after the Tv-translator install makes things smoother....specially when you use COM ports on add on PCI cards !

I'm not real sure what the deal was yet. Right before I went to bed I changed from com10 to com8 and it started working perfectly. I had tried rebooting both receiver and pc multiple times throughout the couple of days I was working with them.
I haven't had the chance to work on the other 2 and get them set up, had a bit of a setback tonight after installing a gigabit lan card, then having to rebuild my main system. Just got it all back up and running and it looks like I'm going to have to tackle building a new one soon. Going to be working on the tvt's and mvp's later though. |

Thats the odd thing about it, when plugged in it configured the devices as port 10,11,12 respectively.
I had to manually change it to port 8 for it to work. I'm sure I will get a better idea why when I'm able to sit down with them again, WAF wants the extenders hooked up NOW!! So the other receivers will have to wait. |

I am experiencing similar issues with Sage, however I am using serial cables with DirecTV 430RG and D10-100s. Sometimes Sage changes channels flawlessly for days and other times it sticks after the first channel change. To date I have tried various sattuner.dlls, updated java, updated drivers, cycled ports, cycled power on reveivers and deleted and re-added video sources.
I recently moved over from BeyondTV bacause I like the all in one media capabilities of Sage but to be honest I never had channel changing issues with BTV, it worked without error for 2 years so I know the problem is not with cables or receivers. A restart of Sage usually clears up the problem so I think something is locking up the port(s). Sometimes after a restart the channel changing is good for 2 days and sometimes it locks after 1 channel change. I am currently running the latest retail version but not the latest beta but I have not read where that would help. Also I have not tried running in service mode. |

I have not contacted support yet, I'm trying to exhaust every option before doing that. I'm probably at that point now.

I believe that the deal with Directv and port lockups is due to a change in the directv firmware they put out recently. From what i've read recently anyway.
The fix, at least from what I know is to slow down the port speed of whatever port you are using to control the box to 9600 baud. I don't claim to know why that works, but apparently it prevents it from locking the port. |

My receivers are older models and I'm not sure they're affected but I did check and they are set at 9600. I have only been running Sage for a few weeks so I don't have any histoy before the DirecTV update. The frustrating part is that whenever it works for two days I think I have solved it only to have it pop up again. I opened a support request so if I learn anything valuable I will post it here.

I have been using these with D11-100s for the last two months or so...have not had channel change issues once everything is working...it is a beast to setup for the first time.....but have not had issues since...
Maybe your problems are related to the firmware updates by DTV as mentioned in the earlier posts.
