How to skip forward/backward a song??

Hi

When using the music item in sagetv, i can't figure out how to skip a song forward or backward. The manual states that the channel up/down button must be used. When i press that while playing a playlist, i only see up and down movement in the lefthand menu.
How do i program the hauppauge mvp to skip a song? I have no idea what what command must be linked to the channel up/down button.
btw, channel up/down is working fine when surfing channels.

You mean jumping to the next & previous songs? The chan up/down method you are trying should work while on the playback screen, where it works for channel changes.

If you are on the music browser screen, there should be next/prev song icons in the left column when a song is playing.

Yep, that's what i mean.

Just to get things straight, to see if i'm doing it right.

I go into the music section, select Playlist and pick one of the playlists i've made. I then select 'Play playlist'. playback starts, but i remain in the same menu structure. There is no next or previous song or anything like it. Also, channel up/down does nothing but go up/down in the menu structure.
When i eventually go back into the menu so far i have the 'visualization' menu, then i have use of the channel up/down option. I have to go back like 4-5 menu's to get there.

Hopefully i'm doing things wrong, because otherwise i have great difficulty seeing the logic behind the music menu structure.

If i follow logic with my mind, i would select a playlist. Tell it to play and that's it. I should have forward/backward capability in my view. It's very unlogic to have to go back 4-5 menus first to get into a view that does allow that.

Like i said, hopefully i'm doing something wrong and someone can point me to the proper way to do it.

After starting music playback while in the music browser, the left column of icons will have 3 more icons added: Previous Song, Next Song, and Visualizations. These 3 icons will be directly below the one that rotates between the various repeat + shuffle modes.

If you are not seeing those icons appear while music is playing, then what version of SageTV and version of STV are you using? Both of those info items are on the System Information screen for the default STV.

Edit: Oh. I didn't pay attention to your sig lines, where it says you are using v5. In that case, the music library works completely different than in v6 & I've been talking about v6. I thought there was a button for Visualizations in v5. If not, you can use the TV command to jump to the playback screen and have better playback control.

I was already thinking i was crazy
Well, time to consider migrating to v6 than and coming up with money for the update.

Is there any logical reason that the skip forward skips 10seconds ? I mean .. does ANY _EVER_ skip around in music ? You skip songs .. you use that 10s skip in videos sure but not in music.

Is there anyway to code the >> << buttoms to ALWAYS be next/prev song like it SHOULD be ?

They probably did so in version 6......

Nope .. I have version 6 .. and am now running the 6.1.4 beta .. << and >> are still skipping around the song not song to song .. yipee
