Forward Skip annoyance
I notice that when I press the FF and FF2 buttons, skipping is handled slightly differently from what I remember: When I skip forward, audio playback resumes while the last frame of the skip is diaplayed, and then the first frame to where you skipped displays after a fractional delay. In other words, when I skip forward, I HEAR the content of the skipped-to point before I SEE the video of the skipped-to point. Everything remains in sync, its just that there is a slight dely in the video resuming. It's subtle, but I find it annoying.
Anyone else notice this?

Yes, I noticed that too. But this was already present in version 5. The difficulty in using this IMO is that you have to FF by sound because when you hit FF fast enough a couple of times the video never gets updated.

I originally noticed the change back in the V2-V4 days when I switched from Sage's MPEG decoder to the nVidia pureview decoder. I figured it was due to switching from a software decoder to a hardware-assisted decoder. I thought the video delay was due to the video card having to do its stuff to set up the MPEG decoding.
Yup, just swapped back to Sage decoder in V6 and the video keeps up with the jumps, but with the Default(nvidia) decoder, the video lags. |
