Broken Server Java Version
My STV server is locking up during recordings. It has been rock steady for months, and now it crashes daily and more often. It will happen while a show or shows are recording from the ATSC tuner(s). The server locks up and the shows are only partialy recorded. I have to reboot to unfreeze the server and then the shows are lost completly. This problem started about the time I installed several windows XP updates. This was last Monday March 5th, and I was getting ready for the new DST, and wanted to get the update for the new time. Actuall I was about 25 updates behind. It may be unrelated to the updates I don't know. What JAVA version should I be using with version 5 of STV? I am currently using 1.4.2_11 that came with V5? I am running the server in service mode. Thanks for any help!

You might try moving to 1.6.
Also, you may want to look for updates to your ATSC drivers. I know DVICO just released one. |

Hi,
I no longer apply windows updates to my server or clients. I did recently apply the DST patch, but only the DST patch. I got into this habit because I kept having windows updates break my music server. You may want to try removing them and see if that helps. V5 does (or did) ship with 1.4.2_11. I would second bcjenkins' advice to try java v6. It works great on my clients. Jesse

I was using Java 6 on my Sage system but as soon as I got my new TV (1080p LCD) I started noticing bad "stalling" in the GUI. Reverting to the newest 1.4 fixed that (for the most part).
