Exclamation AC3Filter Drivers Overwritten

I am running the latest version of AC3Filter that enables me to send sound through SPDIF optical connection on my Creative Sound Card.

When installing a new version of Sage, I have to reinstall and reconfigure my AC3Filter drivers.

Is there some way to keep this from happening where SageTV install respects later drivers/configurations than those included in the install package?

Regards,
Rob

Yes, this is most annoying. especially because the version Sage installs is not even the latest NOR does it save your settings.

Maybe this could be an option in the installer?

Yes, this is annoying, but no, you don't have to reinstall AC3Filter every time. Make sure you install AC3Filter to a separate directory in the first place. Then after upgrading Sage, copy AC3Filter.ax from the AC3Filter directory to the Sage directory, overwriting the old one installed by Sage. You should find that Sage now uses the new one, and all your existing settings are preserved.

Yes, we could do that although it still seems to me Sage should be the ones to fix this problem, not us

Bug report filed.

Just trying to make the wait for a real fix a little easier. But if you'd rather keep doing it the hard way as a form of protest, be my guest.

I would like to take this further. Could Sage have an option in the installer to not install their own decoders? I'd rather not even have them on my system causing directshow issues.

Here's what I got from the support team:

We'll do this once we start the V6.2 beta. We're already at RC for 6.1 so we dont' want to make a change like this.
It's just a waiting game for us now
