AVIs not using AC3Filter ...

So I've finally fixed 95% of my audio issues (switched USB ports of Audio Card). I send everything out through AC3Filter & it works great, but .....

Everything is working well except AVI files.

I have a media library of a few hundred AVI files encoded as xVid (some diVx)

The ones encoded with AC3 audio play the audio through AC3filter

The ones encoded with MP3 audio do not. I'm not sure what they are encoded through. When I play the same files in WMP they go through AC3Filter. When I render the same file in GraphEdit, it goes out throuh AC3Filter as well.

What can I go to get this audio out through AC3Filter?

This happens with the property: mplayer/use_for_all_mpeg4_playback=false

When I set: mplayer/use_for_all_mpeg4_playback=true
None of the AVIs go through AC3Filter.

Ideas?

Thanx!

Hi,

hope this helps, there is a properties file entry you can add to force Sage to use Direct Show filters.

Off the top of my head it's something like always_use_dShow_filter = true. (Damn red wine, I know it's not that - you may need to search the forum).

I used this to force it, and it now correctly uses all my set up filters, including AC3filter. (It may also be worth checking to make sure AC3Filter is set to work for MP3).

Cheers

Mark

There's a set of check boxes in there. They say "Dolby Digital" "DTS" and "MPEG". Try unchecking MPEG. I had a problem similar to yours and this resolved the issue.

Still not having any luck.

I've tried setting: always_use_dshow_player=true
But it still wont use AC3Filter

Also in AC3Filter, I've tried allowing AC3 & DTS as passthrough (like I prefer it to be) and allowing nothing to passthrough and AC3Filter still doesn't appear to be working with the media library.

In terms of setting up AC3Filter to work with MP3, that may definitely be my issue. However, these avi files use AC3Filter just fine in Windows Media Player. How would I go about setting it up so that MP3s in xVids are run through AC3Filter in Sage?

Or any other ideas are welcome!

Thanx

I had the same problem with AVI's not using AC3filter. Actually, I had trouble getting AC3filter to work at all with anything in SageTV until I used RadLight filter manager to increase AC3filter's priority ("merit_preferred + 1" in ac3filter from list of directshow filters).

That got ac3filter working with HDTV shows and SD shows, but AVI still wasn't working until I set "always_use_dshow_player=true", there's another properties setting mentioned in this thread (mplayer/use_for_all_mpeg4_playback=false). I didn't need the last setting, the first one plus using radlight fixed it for me.

That's just a couple more things you can try.
