EPG has 2 1/2 days; ZAP2IT has 14?

New SageTV user here. Just installed SageTV a few days ago. Have deleted and re-added my cable provider as well as followed the procedure in the FAQ to force an EPG load.

SageTV EPG continues to only have about 2 1/2 days of data available, whereas the ZAP2IT website shows 14 full days of data for my cable provider.

How do I get SageTV to load all 14 days?

I believe you previously mentioned using SageTV Lite. If so, please refer to the product overview in chapter 1 of the PDF manual that comes with it. One of the differences between the Lite and full versions is that Lite provides EPG data for about 3 days, while the full version lists around 2 weeks.

more like 12 days. at least that's all mine will pull down with the .properties setting at a value that's supposed to bring in out to 14 days.

Since I couldn't get Lite to work with the TV100U, I took a chance and bought the full version anyway, rather than return the Plextor.

I am currently running SageMC 6.1.3.126 (video OK now, but having trouble with sound device detection - Plextor TV100U has USB audio input which is not detected).

So, how do I get EPG to show me the full 14 days that ZAP2IT has on their site?

My provider shows a full 14 days on ZAP2IT's site. Perhaps yours only has 12 showing on ZAP2IT?

Got it working! First time I followed this procedure from the FAQ:

"Close down SageTV and the service and open up your Sage.properties file. Try removing all the properties from the that file that have the string
'server_update_id' in them . Now run SageTV again. "

It didn't work. I tried it again, and this time followed it up with the procedure in the FAQ to force EPG to load.

Voila! 14 days in the EPG!!!

You can contact SageTV tech support for suggestions.

But, that's a software encoder card, right? In the long run, you may find that adding a hardware encoder does a better job -- better quality recording + less cpu usage while recording.

He means 12 days forward in SageTV -- its EPG data is split between the last 2 days so you can scroll back a bit + the next 12 days or so. That's why I say it has data for around the next 2 weeks.

Thank you I am already in touch with SageTV tech support for the USB sound device-gone-AWOL issue as well as an issue where SageTV (full) hasn't got a place to accept my new license key for it.

Every time I launch the full version I get a message that I'm "running the (full) program in trial and I need to get an upgrade key as I am running a pre-version-5 key". There is no place in the program to provide the new key however!

I have to OK this message before SageMC will go quietly into the system tray. Since I normally have scheduled but unattended system reboots, this is a problem as SageMC will not go into standby until someone is around to press enter through that message (N.B. I am writing a little macro to detect and push that message. Sorry but that's a flat out DUMB solution, to have to do to make this work.) And once the trial expires I will be without any working product again.

This is very frustrating. From my standpoint I simply bought a product, installed it, software doesn't work quite right, contact support, support doesn't know why not. I buy an upgrade and the upgrade software doesn't work quite right, and is stuck halfway in the registration process, inhibiting standby mode after reboot. And if my "trial" runs out due to the registration problem, before support can figure out what's wrong, then what? So far the only assurance I have is "Support is looking into this".

And yes, the Plextor unit is not the hottest quality. A "real" card with hardware encoding is in the somewhat distant future for now, however.

I am not sure where you are at with this whole thing, but what I think you want is to close down all running versions of Sage (i.e. the service too) and then edit the Sage.properties and sage.properties.autobackup files to change the value of scheduling_lookahead to a higher number. I don't know the specifics, I would search the forum for "sheduling_lookahead" to get the low down on the math (so many minutes per day or something) anyway the vlaque I use is 1209600000.

Thanks for response. However, I am unclear which of my issues this is meant to address? The EPG problem (reason for this post) is resolved -- see above. What was this suggestion intended to fix?
