6.1.3RC Imported Videos Broken

Hi Guys,

6.1.2 works fine, upgraded to 6.1.3 and SageTV.exe crashes when trying to play ripped DVD's. Went back to 6.1.2 works again.

Stock standard - Not using any other imports

Anyone else having this problem ? I will log a bug

Thanks

I'm having the same problem with imported videos on network paths. I'm using UNC names.

Same here.

Trying to play a ripped DVD from a local to the SageTV server hard drive, crashes sageTV.

Trying to play a DVD stored on a NAS and using direct mappings (Not UNC) also crashes.

Make sure you're trying to play these with a DVD decoder. SageTV MPEG decoder is not going to work. nVidia. PowerDVD, WinDVD or Dsacler 5 works fine. I'm not having these issues with the nVidia or Dscaler 5 decoders. Rips play fine from local and Media server.

Problem manifests it self with the Nvidia decoder and 6.1.3.

The SageTV Decoder doesnt work with 6.0.19 or any other version as you have correctly said.

Just to add to this, I've found that the problem is with more than imported videos. I have recording directories on multiple PC's and I'm getting the message saying the files don't exist for recordings on PC's other than the server.

Same here with .wmv files. I have Juice pull video podcasts into an import directory. With 6.0.19, if you opened a video, it would open at the position you stopped it at, but it was frozen...if you rewound a couple times, it would play. With 6.1 it does the same thing (opens at last point frozen), but rewinding just locks up Sage. Saw this with DL.TV and Cranky Geeks.

Bug reports please! We'll probably need log files too so if you know the drill just send them into betatest as usual. Thanks!

I just rolled back to 6.0.19 and I still can't see the imported videos on my network shares. I tried deleting all of them and adding them back, and defining directories doesn't allow me to specify the UNC. It asks if I want to create the directory. Yet, I can key the exact same UNC into explorer and see the share just fine. I can also map a drive to that share, and Sage sees that a new drive has been added and allows me to play video from that share. I've killed all firewall software, so there's no chance that can be a problem. I never had this issue before installing the beta, so I think I must still have something from the 6.1.3 beta that's buggering up the imported videos. When I went back to 6.0.19 I just reinstalled and then replaced the sage.properties and wiz.bin with the backed up copies from before I tried the beta. Can anybody shed some light on what the problem is?

Thanks,
Mike

Are you using service mode? If so, check that you've reconfigured it to log in as a user w/a password. As far as I know, the installer currently can't keep those settings.

Andy,

You nailed it. I'd forgotten all about setting up a separate account for the service to use. Thanks! It's working now.

I think this is also what the originally reported problem, at least in my case, was as well. After getting it working with 6.0.19 again I decided to reinstall 6.1.3 and it's working. Interesting thing is when I tried to install 6.1.3 this time it recognized that it had been installed previously and asked me if I wanted to remove, repair, or modify the install. I did a repair, which left my service account information intact. I'm thinking the initial install of 6.1.3 isn't migrating the information for which service account to use from 6.0.X.

Thanks again,
Mike

Has anyone submitted a bug report on this yet?

I am travelling but will be able to post one Wednesday. I do know that I did correctly set my service account and password when I installed 6.1.3. I don't know if anyone else has provided this feedback but I have no problem playing any video (imported avi's etc) or ripped DVDs through the Media Extender. The only place I have an issue is playback through the client itself. Placeshifter works fine as well.

Did anyone actually submit a bug report?
