Using MCE Remote

Greetings,

As most of you know I am a refugee from the Windows MCE camp, and seeing as I have the MCE remote I was wondering if anyone knew anyway to set the GREEN MCE remote button to run Sage when pressed.

I have looked all over for the program that monitors the remote keypress on the MCE remote but have had no luck finding it.

Any help is appreciated.

If you replace the native drivers with the HIP ones, you can do this. I asked this question a while back and was told the button is reserved for MS use only. Bummer.

Thanks in advance

Not sure which subject, so I guessed. Read through the site, maybe starting with the FAQ. http://www.byremote.com.au/Hip/mce_remote_faq.htm

Do you happen to have the MCE Keyboard? The "Green Button" is mapped to Sage's Main Menu once Sage is running. I use the MCE KB to launch Sage with Ctrl-Alt-S...and mapped that command to a Harmony button.

Sweet! So you can map kb shortcuts to a harmony button? Does it know when you're already in the application and react differently?

(This comes up a lot, so if you already know this, disregard)

Background:

Sage supports the MCE IR Receiver and the associated MCE codes.

The MCE Keyboard sends the identical codes that the MCE Remote does.

The MCE Keyboard is infrared.

The Harmony line of remote controls can be programmed by any infrared device.

A Harmony remote can be taught to do anything the MCE Keyboard can do...which means it can almost completely control Windows XP and any program that is installed (It will start anything, and control any program that offers keyboard shortcuts).
-------------------------------------------------
Right click on any SageTV shortcut (Desktop, Start Menu, All Programs, etc...) and choose properties. Click in the "Shortcut Key" box. Press Ctrl + Alt + Any key you want or an F Key. Now teach that command to the Harmony with the MCE Keyboard. If you want to control WinDVD, add it as a device, create a start command as above, and teach the Harmony the WinDVD keyboard commands with the MCE Keyboard, etc...

It will know it's in WinDVD for example, and act just like the keyboard would.
