Has anybody figured out a way to get Sage to play the digital music channels?

Ok so I just got my HDHR Wednesday and got it all setup and working with one tuner using QAM. Was able to pick a decent amount of channels. Is my understanding correct that I can't use both tuners at the same time w/ QAM? What about QAM and OTA at the same time? I thought you could only use one but I got to reading on silicondust forums at the FAQ and it said it could use both? I would just try it but I am at work atm.

I use both tuners with QAM without a hitch. Shouldn't be a problem.

You can mix and match and use them both at the same time. I've often had two QAM shows recording at the same time on different channels.

That is awesome news guys!!! For some reason I thought I read somewhere where you could only use 1 at a time. Something else to mess with when I get home then. Also I seem to pickup Charter On Demand channels at random on different channels, but they are hit of miss. One day it will be 108-1,108-2... and the next it will be 106-1 and etc. Do you guys usually see this?

When I was testing, I was able to play music using SageTV with no problem. I made a point of testing that because I saw a post about it not working, I was using RC3. It did seem to take a few seconds before I heard it and saw a picture. I have not tested since I moved the HDHR to my primary SageTV server, I did not even enter the music channels.

I'm on the latest RC and it just displays a "no signal" error after a few seconds. No sound at all.

I think for a while they only had one tuner working under MCE. Not sure of the current status since I use Sage.

There does appear to be some type of issue with playing music. I did not see it when I did testing on my notebook computer. I do see it on my server. On the server I can go into channel setup and view the music. when I first select the view I do see the no signal but then the picture and the music shows up. However, I cannot watch the channel which is what I did during my initial testing. My client is also very sluggish.
I just brought my trial version of SageTV up on my notebook and am able to view the music channel with no issues. My notebook has a Intel Core 2 Duo chip, my server is only a 2.6 Ghz hyper-threaded CPU.

Quick QAM question. How would I know before hand, if my cable company has in the clear QAM channels?

I'm on Comcast in the Columbus Indiana area.

Thanks

Matt, a couple things. You can try doing a search on the AVSforums (or possibly even Google) to see if someone has already mapped out the unencrypted QAM for your territory and provider. The other option is to get your hands on a QAM television and test it.

I just took the plunge and it was a crapshoot. I ended up with about 5-10 unencrypted channels. Most folks can see their local channels via the cable from the wall I believe, which usually translates to 5-20 stations I suppose.

I was a little disappointed at first, as I thought that only the channels like HBO and other pay stations would be encrpyted, but the cable company does a pretty good job of only letting through what they want to protect their own marketing tactics. The quality of the 5 HD channels that I get is, however, worth the cash for the unit, and the unit itself works flawlessly.

I haven't seen anyone list QAM in my area. I'll try to post the channels I get in the other thread when I get home.

Hi,

I have been happily running with my HDHR since January. I just updated from SageTV v6.0 to v6.1.9 about two weeks ago. I noticed immediately after upgrading that it now takes ~30 seconds for the HDHR to tune a channel, where it used to only take ~5 seconds. I am using almost the latest HDHR software/firmware (~20070423? I didn't notice the 20070512 release until today). I use padding on all my recordings, so this hasn't caused any major issues yet. Has anyone else seen this?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks!

Aloha,
Mike

Edit: I just noticed that I have finally reached 1 kilo-post! (binary)

Umm... that depends on whether you started the count with 0 or 1. Right now, the count shows 2^10 - 1, but making it to 2^10 shouldn't take long...

Well what do you know....You were right!

Of course the number of useable posts is much smaller than that...

I have seen this for a while, I notice it also takes up to a minute or two to release a tuner on the HDHR if I cancel an active recording.

The interesting thing is, if you go into the lineup maintenance and select the "View" for a mapped channel, it displays almost immediately, and as soon as I hit the Stop button it stops. So I am not sure what is happening with the recording delays.

Now on top of everything else, the HDHR has stopped tuning to a couple of the channels that worked up to a week ago, 1-1 and 1-4. These are some kind of virtual channels that Comcast is broadcasting on.

I wish it would stay stable for a month or two, just once

I updated to the latest HDHR Manager/firmware (20070512) a few days ago. I still have the same ~30s delay from tuning a channel until it begins liveTV playback in SageTV v6.1.9. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Aloha,
Mike

I don't have this problem. I am running the same HDHR firmware version with Sage 6.19.135.

What is your delay on LiveTV playback set to? I know some people were setting this very high to eliminate some stutter problems when watching Live TV. I have never changed mine, so it is still at whatever the default value is.

When the show actually begins to display, has it actually started recording 30 seconds late, or did it begin recording on time, and just delayed displaying the picture for 30 seconds?
