Whats 30 bucks?

Whats 30 bucks?
  • USA: 15 US gallons (56l) of gas
  • UK: 18 litres of petrol (=4 UK gallons / 4.75 US gallons)
  • USA: 10 big mac's
  • EUROPE: 8 big macs
  • SWITZERLAND: 6 big macs
  • 1 1/2 DVDs
  • UK: 1/2 a london-birmingham single train ticket
  • 1/2 a Brussels-Paris single train ticket
  • 6 months of electricity used by an always-on HTPC (10c/kwh or 5.5p/kwh; 65W average usage)
  • 1 1/2 hrs of gross salary (assuming $40kpa; 20days/mon 8hrs/day)
  • less than 1/2hr with a lawyer!

Just some perspective...

Gas was 1.99 on my way to work yesterday... on the way home it was 2.19... only hours apart... Timing is everything....

Might I suggest that anyone who has an issue with the pricing structure either vote with your wallet or contact Sage customer service. I don't think the forums are the correct venue for lodging a complaint.

Where I live I get Big Macs for 2 for 3 bucks, so I guess that what be
  • USA: 20 big mac's (for me)
As far as the electricity usage goes, I have a 650 watt psu in the sage box so I doubt I'm getting that kind of stretch from 30 bucks since my sagetv runs 24/7... plus I have second 650 watt psu in my office computer too.

And based on some of the conversations about the upgrade price in the forum did you stop and talk to the gas station owner? Tell him it wasn't fair. How hours ago you paid less and now you have to pay more? That you figured you would go at least another week-month-year without a price increase.

And I don't mean you-I mean the complainers.

Of course I'm not directing this to you but I just wondering why some people are reacting to having to pay for an upgrade like they are. Can't make everyone happy. Have to draw the line somewhere. Maybe next time around you'll get the advantage. And they have choices-too much-don't buy it.

It just amazes me. Sorry to keep beating this dead horse.

Actually it is very easy to understand.

It's simply a change in expectations. . .

Exclamation I am really tired of this condescending crap !

Do what you need, call me a complainer (here I am stomping my feet for all to see).

I am not trying to COMPLAIN as much as I am trying to EXPLAIN that I paid full price for something and now I have to pay $30 for an upgrade 5 months later !(before it's too late, thanks for the warning this time )
Before anyone answers with "you don't need to upgrade. or that it's just the way it is now" just look back on how happy people were when SageTV was a free upgrade for YEARS ! You are the same people telling me to deal with it !

So why start a topic like this ?
To make people feel better, thanks .

The bottom line is I paid for my upgrades because I like the product and will continue to use it and the new features !
I don't post that often except to help someone out, so just because I only have 9 posts doesn't mean get the n00b because my opinion differs.

The wattage listed on the PS is the max DC it is capable of outputting, not how much it pulls from the AC wall socket. Here is a review that compares DC output to AC draw. There are also devices you can purchase for $30-40 that can measure the AC draw.

I don't know how this turned into that other thread but it seems to me that the OP was talking about the value of $30 in todays market.
  • 1 full month basic cable
  • Non-stop jabbin on vonage for a month
  • Bottle of red for the wife and I to share
  • Car wash and detail by hand

The "paradise tax"

I love the fine print on catalog/web sales:
Free shipping (to the lower 48 states, Alaska/Hawaii UPS 2nd day only).

Menehune,
