HDTV Stutter/Judder/Chop/Jerk

...so many names The condition I'm talking about is when the scene jumps ahead, like it's playing catch-up. This was occuring about every 3 seconds. I'm running a 6600GT and a Fusion5. I upgraded my video driver from 84.21 to 84.25, and *downgraded* the PureVideo decoder from .185 to.177 (although I've had .196 and .223 installed also...no joy) The Fusion software (drivers) is the latest 3.41 Web. So far, I think I've found the solution...the only thing HD right now is PBS, not known for fast action, but it looks good. I'd try the .177 decoder first, as I had smooth playback with Media Player Classic...which points to the decoder having a problem. I used DriverCleanerPro after the VGA uninstall re-boot, but didn't do safe mode. Not final, but I think .177 is the ticket. Something to try.

Were you getting sound glitches as well, or only video?

make sure that your aspect ratio sizes are set to 100% or greater. if i set mine down to say 98% to get as much of the pic as possible on the screen then it's judder city.

Only video glitches with the nVIDIA decoder (Sage or WMP). I read on AVS that people were staying with .185 instead of .196 or .223 for various reasons. Since MPC doesn't use the nVIDIA decoder, I try'd .177 as a hunch...looking good so far.

Edit...and No 1080i seems to be still jumping forward, 720p looks good though. Back to the tweaking board.

Are you saying that if we use Sage setup menu to adjust screen overscan it'll create the stutter so frequently described?

What's funniest about all this is that like so many other people I'm able to watch my recorded HD programs in zoom player(using Nividia decoders) or MPC without a glitch. Only when I watch in Sage does it stutter(on VMR-- fine on overlay).

My SD video looks noticably crappier in overlay than VMR. Yet for the stable playback I have to leave it in overlay. PITA
