Its Been....

Its been:

2+ Months or
65+ Days or
1573+ Hours or
94410+ minutes or
5664600+ seconds

Since the last announcement of 5.0.4 release.

I realise we all got really spoiled with all the quick releases for awhile there and everyone is entitled to some time off, but I am itchin' for some new features (or at least some idea of what is due out next!).

Who had time off? Just because a beta wasn't posted every week doesn't mean the developers stopped working -- v5.1 has been in development even while those v5.0 maintenance releases were going out the door, er, um, out the network port. There have been a few hints about things to come, but those comments are sprinkled throughout various discussions. A v5.1 beta release is getting closer, but there is no target date to give.

If we continue to taunt you, do we get more information?

You'll only get the teaser info I can mention... nothing about the completely brand new stuff that I won't even talk about until SageTV comments on it.

OK, OK... there will be full video playlist control, instead of that single video playlist for imported videos. You can add recordings to the playlists too, not just imported videos. That's been real nice when I've needed to let the kids watch a couple shows in a row so I could get some work done.

SO which new features do the private beta testers like best so far?

You mean: which already-announced features do they like?

I think the new music library has gotten a few good comments. I can find any music I want very quickly and add it to the list of currently playing songs or to some other playlist. I know I'm biased, but I use it for all my pc-based music listening now.

You guys are crazy. Feature #3.3b is absolutely the best one. It beats all of the other features in it's sleep.

By the end all and be all, feature 42 is just the answer we have needed. It's just amazing. If solves that one big problem.

Hmmm, is 42 QAM support or is that one being able to view full resolution HDTV on my Treo650 using placeshifter?

Ah! I was wondering why I couldn't time travel anymore using timescroll while simultaneously holding down CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-F3-F9-G.

Man that made me laugh! Can't wait for the public beta, hopefully will fix a few issues I have and am to busy to test and send stuff to sage, nothing that makes it unusable

If I were in private beta, feature #6 would be my favorite :-)
