Sage and HAL Home Automation
Anyone here using both Sage and Hal2000 software interested in testing an early beta for integration? I should be at a state to share with a couple of people in the next couple of days. The first generation will be able to control all devices, macros, scenes, groups, home theatre devices, provide a list of calls in, calls out, mailboxes and messages, etc. I will also be attempting to integrate the HAL caller ID, voicemail playback, and other things in the near future... I would like to find a couple of people who could test it for me tho... Here is a sample shot from the HAL Device menu...

Wow that looks really cool! Not a HAL user but I might take a look at it now. This looks like it could be a really cool plugin

HAL is pretty expensive even if you go the basic route. At one point I was trying to use misterHouse but gave up. Since then I ran across this http://www.ehomeupgrade.com/entry/1929/open_source_home . Its still in early development but could turn out to be an excellent, free, option in the future.

I agree it is not cheap - but I do think it is the most powerful and feature rich... I would not be opposed in the end to perhaps work on integrating another source for HA as well -- but that might be a long way off...

I agree its much easier to develop an interface for a package that exists and is commerically support. That being said I wanted to through it out there for others.

Using CQC to control sage is coming from the entirely different direction. I want my home control in sage for day to day use -- not sage within CQC or something else like cinemar... |
