4.1.8 Smoked Crack Tonight
So I recorded the New York Rangers game on MSG Network tonight, SD, analog cable. The time line showed the 2h:30m + 15 min padding. While watching the game, the counter was moving at 4 second intervals. FF1 and 2, as well as RW1 and 2 were totally haywire...I'd try to skip a commercial and be taken back to game before the commercial. Other times I'd end up way ahead. The file ended at the end of the first period. At one point while trying to FF I saw a 5-1 score on screen...they didn't score til later periods. Whoa.

I have seen this behaviour occasionally in the 4.1.7 beta that I am using (haven't upgraded yet). I searched around some time ago, and couldn't find any other complaints. I'd be interested if there was something I could do to alleviate it though.

Funny thing, I had the same thing happening with a movie recording, but I am using 4.1.3 ... I recorded "The fifth element" a few days back, time according to EPG was 1.5 hours. The recording shows up in SageTV with a play time of 2.5 hours, and the OSD counter is increasing in 5 seconds intervals. It seems Sage didn't record the whole thing, it stopped in the middle (I have to double check with a different player) ... Since this doesnt seem to be beta-related, I will post this problem in the general forum ...

Even complete windows re-installs didn't fix this. At this point Sagetv is only used for recording. I watch the shows with powerdvd, because this program thinks the recordings are fine. Like i said, i don't want to sound too bitter. The SageTv guys are doing awesome things. But bug reporting sure didn't help me on this issue. I haven't used my MVP for months because of this My 2 cents... Henk99

Just to add: I don't want to sound like "Joe Sage Expert" or anything, but I can 99.9% guarantee that if I find a bug...it's in SageTV. My rig is a purpose built HTPC with only the required software to run Sage. I've had builds run flawlessly for the life of the build, 24/7 use....But, I always install the newest beta when it comes out.

I had this issue too. For two weeks in a row SageTV hated Survivor but I though it had something to do with recording it through MT with DVB-S. Has a bug report been submitted?

4.1.9: Same behavior
4.1.9 did the same thing tonight. Same scenario: MSG Network, Rangers game. Watched the first period, hit a 3 minute skip to start through the intermission, and was watching the 3rd period all of a sudden. Backing up in 1 minute intervals brought me to the beginning of the 2nd period at about 4 minutes into the timeline...where the 1st period was at the start. I record at 12mb/s and the file was about 15Gigs in size.

I think I know the problem!!!
SageTV also knows that the NHL sucks now after the new rules and mostly...the salary cap that hurts all sports and the coolness of having densities where it is a great feeling to be able to finally beat that team and wreck their density. And just in general it hurts the better market teams as they turn to crap and lose revenue. Why can't the owners just admit that over paying players is 100% their fault. If you can’t afford it then you don’t buy it. I wish there was a salary cap in life, make cars capped $20,000 no matter what it is including the McLaren F1, cap my cell phone bill a month to $20, and cap my food to $25 a week. The moral of the story is in real life if you can’t make enough money then you need to cut your expenses. Sorry, I always feel the need to rant about who jacked up and stupid the NHL is now. |

I've sent in the Debug logs for this, so it's being looked at.

I had this happen to me once during one of our olympics records, but in that case it was because I run to hard drives and the recording appeared to have crossed from one hard drive to another and after I got to the point in the show that it had to switch to hard drive 2, it would freak out on me whenever I tried to fast forward or rewind. If i just let it go, and didn't try to skip commercials, it would do just fine.

Mine are all on one HD. The only thing I can say is that I've only seen it on hockey (2+ hrs recording time) and it is the only event I have padding set for (15 mins).

I've started seeing this behavior also with 4.1.3 with a UNC mapped samba share. Counter moving at 2 second intervals, or 2 sec 3 sec 2 sec intervals. Has not happened on the internal drive. Watching the movie and FF will cause it to jump all around the file. If I don't use the FF it plays fine through.
In addition I have started to notice some corrupted recordings also. Movie plays and then just freezes. Never plays past the point. Using Neilms webserver I can watch the file (or watching it from the linux box) in which it pixilates badly at the Sage freeze point, but keeps playing. Again this has only been happening on recordings off of my samba drive Both of these started happening over the last couple weeks. |

4.1.10 recorded a game without problems, last night. 1st time since 4.1.8, so here's hoping it's fixed

...It's not. OLN Rangers/Bruins. Same behavior...a little better, the timeline would move in 1 second intervals for 3 seconds, then jump ahead two. Most of the FF and RW were ok, but some still brought me way ahead or back. I'll send the logs and try to upload the video file.

Are you guys using the default SageTV3.STV?
I think I also had this problem after installing the MLBDude/Cayars MiniGuide 0.93 or 0.94 plugin. After uninstalling it did not reoccur. But that may be a coincidence... Oliver
