"Smart" is still broken. Film>Video>Film>Video... Seems worse, lots of start/stop motion.

You realise, lots of content (especially recorded content) does contain a lot of film mixed with video.

This may be true, but then running with Smart on some 480i should not look worse than Auto. On mine it randomly inserts out of sync frames and looks horrible. Only on certain channels though, like TNT, TBS, and a few others.

I've had the same problem with every version of the nvidia decoders. TBS, TNT, and certain USA programs are the most notable ones.

Stanger: Didn't know that, but I think "Smart" should look as good as Auto...'supposed to be better. Up to .185, "Smart" just looked like a "Bad Edit" scenario. With this one, It's like someones' hitting the pause button every couple milliseconds and I saw a lot of noise artifacts on screen. I did notice that some channels were worse than others, and TBS was one of them..."Naked Gun" on TBS and "Prince of BelAir" on an independant. A re-run of "Conan O'Brien" looked fine however.

Can't say I've ever noticed anything like that.

What are Inverse Telecine and Bad Edit Correction?

I notice that the new 7800GS AGP cannot do those for HD, yet the 6800 Ultra AGP can.

Is this perhaps just a drivers issue?

Because of that situation, I think it may be. nVidia did that with HD adaptive deinterlacing. Put it out on the big cards first to drive up sales for a bit. It is possible though that it requires more GPU than what the lower end cards offer - though the 7800GS AGP may nix that theory.

If you bought your nVidia decoders from a 3rd party (i.e. PCAlchemy), then the OEM update file is here:
