OT:

Speaking of Lost, since Alias is going off the air shortly, we are looking for a new show. This seems to be a popular show, even the guy at Blockbuster talked to me about it for a while, while I was renting the last 7 episodes of the 3rd season of Alias, since TNT was dumb enough to take it off their schedule.

However, since we are what, in the 2nd season of Lost, is there any network playing reruns of the 1st season, or any one planning on showing it? I've got Lost added (with first runs, and reruns), but only see new shows... May have to Blockbuster it, otherwise...

Back OT:
Have I said how much I like SA?

Well.. you could go to iTunes and buy the first season for 35 bucks.. I wonder how well it would scale on a TV?

What would that be scaled for, a Videopod? That means I've have to use iTunes to play it though, wouldn't I (DRM?).

Besides, that's about $35 more than I was wanting to spend. Of course, if it's like 3 DVD cases, that's still gonna cost me $15 at Blockbuster...

Amazon has the first season on DVD. BTW: I watch this series, but it seems to be getting too much like afternoon soaps -- lots of repeated story lines w/o much story advancement. If blockbuster has it, that might be a fairly inexpensive way to catch up, since I don't think it is syndicated anywhere.

Andy, where you a fan of Alias? The guy I talked to at Blockbuster mentoned that he thought Lost would air for too many seasons that it's really good for. (He thought no show should last past 7 seasons, of course, that's a ways off.)

My goal here, is to try and find something that both my wife, and I, can agree on. She loves Alias (probably her favorite show...strange...but anyway). I like the show, although finding several technical errors in the writing, but, it's a show...

I've been watching Criminal Minds, and kind of started watching Bones, but she has no interest in either show. I also got caught up on Prison Break when they did the catch up season, last season, but she doesn't like that one either...

Anyway, the dude at Blockbuster mentioned 24, but I have no idea if that is something either of us would like. Seems to be popular on the HTPC sites, but haven't read up on what it's about.

Any recommendations based on that? (BTW, sorry about the OT post...thanks for being cool about it.)

I never watched Alias or those other shows, so I can't offer any comparisons.

I've watched Alias and think that the first 3 seasons were the strongest when JJ Abrams was actively involved with the writting and producing of the show. Season 4 and 5 have fallen flat for me. I'm barely keeping up with season 5, Dancing With the Stars rates higher on my list now. I've recently gotten into 24 when A&E did a marathon on th first season. I've since bought the first season DVD and will probably get the rest. It has a story drive that is very fast paced and is told in a way like the old serials where you *HAVE* to keep watching it to see what happens in the next hour. Great show with good writting. Also one of my favortie authors, Vince Flynn, is one of the advisors of the show so the elements of his writting is something I can pick up on clearly. LOST right now is my absolute favorite show. The writting and cast cohesion is what had me sold on the show in the first episode... well that and the wicked beach/post crash sequence!

What I watch probably won't help you much... currently, I'm watching the latest Stargate series & old Dick Van Dyke reruns from the 60s. That and a variety of other non-series shows, depending on what seems interesting. Oh, and Whose Line Is It Anyway & the Daily show are good for some laughs.

I'd tag on The Colbert Report on the end of the Daily Show as well. I'm also keeping up with American Chopper. I love the fabrication of custom motorcycles. I think I'm going to add Whose Line to my list tonight...

Well, I may still give Lost a try. Seems to be interesting to most people I talk to about it.

Yep, Whose Line is pretty funny, we recently also added King of Queens, man, that guy is hilarious.

I agree with Alias, the last few shows haven't had much of a story, nor been easy to follow, with so many no shows inbetween the new ones. I'd almost rather Jennifer get out of it, if she isn't going to be able to keep up the pace. I know with kid and all, it's going to be hard, but so is normal, non-hollywood life.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll be checking up on some of them.

I like Lost but it is getting boring.. I think 24 is an awesome show.. They pack what feels like about 3 hours worth of action into an hour. I like the shows Invasion, and Surface also. Bones is good.. Stargate, Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica are also good.

If you like Alias I would pick 24.

Sweet. More choices. I was reading some of the episode names and descriptions of 24 last night. Seems like a lot of the reruns are also out there too. Thanks for the input!

I would second everything SprDtyF350 said except for Bones.
Seems to be on too sporatically to keep my interest. But, 24, Battlestar Galactica, SG-1, Atlantis, Surface, and one other interesting show my wife likes is The Book of Daniel. Kinda a TV "Meet the Parents" type comedy, and oh yah Smallville looks like it's getting back on track...

My Name is Earl must be impossible for people without a PVR to watch. I'm always pausing it while I finish laughing at the last scene. The first-skirt and I also really enjoy Lost because it goes so deep and is so intertwined. If you really pay attention (and maybe even take notes) you'll find that there is so much more to each episode than meets the eye.
I'd head over to the TiVo community site and look through the Currently Playing sub-forum to see what you might like.
