The UI seems fine but the video stuttering is really bad. I get maybe every 2-3 seconds a moving picture for about a second.
The power thing works. I didn't get a green screen or something like that, eventhough the mvp is connected via scart RGB. But it still isn't quite working like Matt's plugin. It is possible to send a singnal that the TV knows that the mvp box is on. That way it will switch to the right channel or wake up from standby. After switching off the mvp the TV turned off again. That was quite convienient since I just needed the mvp remote and didn't need to touch the TV remote. Now it is not that imortant, but quite a nice addon. Maybe you can look into it. I don't know if that works with NTSC mvp-boxes. I am a PAL user and our mvp's have a scart connector, that is not used in the US. Anyways, thanks for the ongoing development. It's getting there. Had the same problem with the stuttering and a clean install fixed this for me. Had to uninstall and delete the sage directory before installing again.

Just tried it last night, definitely noticable faster menu response, and when I stopped a playback, the main menu comes bak faster too. Before, it would stay black for up to 10 sec before I see the SageTV main menu after I hit the STOP button. Also noticed it starts playing faster too after selecting Watch Now. So overall, good speed improvements. Keep up the good work _Demo_.

Sorry.... UI is fine, but the audio on video playback and watching live tv is very much out of sync. Also, the video plays back ... non-techie here ... as though in chunks...kind of like there is a 2-3 second buffer and it waits for the buffer to get full before playing the next 2-3 seconds...waits ... plays 2-3 seconds... waits ...plays 2-3 seconds. There is no pausing or start/stop in the audio, just the video. |

Now its like once it starts recording anything it starts to stutter all over the place with spinning icon in the middle .... The only hardware change I made was adding more memory CPU still 96-100% Last edited by BBCritical; 01-05-2006 at 10:31 PM. |

It is an optimization released by Hauppauge to improve streaming for the MVP. I had stuttering problems before and after i installed the reg tweak my problems went away.

I've posted a guide on a thread I started on how to use ethereal to troubleshoot network problems:
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...634#post132634 Hopefully it'll help those who are willing to give it a shot. The more info we can get Sage on problems like these the faster problems can get fixed and we all enjoy SageTV at it's best!

My wife called me yesterday, while I am working at CES, to complain that the MVP in our bedroom was stuttering (as described above with playing for 2-3 seconds then freezing then playing a little more). Since I obviously can't fix it while working a booth in Las Vegas, I told her to unplug the MVP and plug it back in. She said it fixed the problem and I have not had a more phone calls today. Just FYI. Stacy |

I am in Holland, so i have the PAL version.
My MVP picture turned to green as well when updating the file. I had the MVP completely unplugged and the service was off and restarted. Can't get rid of it, so reverted back to the old one untill someone finds a fix. The power up/down, which was my biggest issue did work ok, unlike Peter (in the beginning of this thread). It also looked more responsive in the menus. Hope the green will be solved. Cheers, Henk99

Ok, I shut down the mvp. Install SageTV v4.1.4. SAVED A BACKUP copy of the mvp.bin file. copied the beta into the stv location. started up Sage and then the MVP and everything is beautiful now. No stuttering, power down works great and the menus seem to be a bit quicker. THANKS

My server is Win2k3, HD client is XP, plus an MVP. When I installed the BIN update and the reg hack both started the studdering. Obviously it centered around the datagram settings.
The usual blind stab rebooting, etc, etc didn't fix it. The fix, at least for me, was to bind the QOS packet scheduler to my server (Win2k3) interface. Then restart the service. Fixed the problem on all my clients; also, with a tweaked IP stack my VNC sessions are also more responsive (which is nice) So for future reference, when you change the way Windows handles IP flows, you need to change the way it serializes and services those flow buffers (queues); hence the need for the QOS service. |
