Smile MVP beta update

A new beta update for the mvp support is available.

mvp.bin : http://download.sagetv.com/mvpupdate/030106/mvp.bin

Simply replace that file in your SageTV V4.1.4 directory, restart the server then unplug the mvp. Remember: Since this is a beta, it is recommended that you make a copy of the original mvp.bin file before replacing it with this one.

Notes:

- Improved compatibility with some routers (DGL for example)
- Added soft power on/off mode which turns off output and the red led
- Slightly modified streaming with increased buffer size
- Faster UI render in some cases

Demo,

Does this fix the NIC problem with the Nvidia chipsets that we had? Yes, we crippled the driver but was wondering if it fixed it so we could re-enable the driver all the way.

Thanks for the effot,

Stacy

I don't think it will change anything for those kind of network problems. We were unable to reproduce them.

Wow! That was quick I' haven't been using Sage for long but I'm really impressed with your output.

There's a definite improvement in UI speed with this release. I'm using the SageMC stv and have switched to using the "Music Files" view as it is the only way I can navigate my mp3 collection on the MVP. With this release the 'normal' my music view in that stv and in the default stv are now navigable - slowly, admittedly but definitely usable.

The soft power on / off is a definite bonus but is there any chance it could be configurable, i.e. so that the power button on the remote can just be used to send Sage to sleep? (I think my wife might actually kill me if she has to get used to any more changes in the tv department )

I ran into an issue when 'restarting' the MVP with a soft power cycle. On two times it wouldn't come back up until I unplugged the power cable and did a hard reboot.

For what its worth, I think your work on these thin clients is the way to go and will definitely pay off. One happy user here

This update is also for pal/scart users? I have tried it and my screen turned greenish a bit like nightvision and the power button does not work.

Have you tried to run the Hauppauge reg tweak for TCP/IP optimization? Here is the link:

http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/softw...timization.reg

Load it on your SageTV server and see if it helps with your stuttering issue.

This update should work fine for PAL. Make sure your turn off your sagetv server and completly unplug the MVP when you update.

FWIW ... I have a netgear router and my server has an onboard NIC (if I am allowed to call it that). Anyway, it was working fine. But, of course, would that stop me from trying to make it work even better? Of course not!

Anyway, I changed my mvp.bin out for this one and it made things much worse (it was usable before, buit not now). I switched back to the old mvp.bin and everything is fine now (minus the power off).

Could you describe the problems you had with this version?

Thank you

Had the same problem...Found a work around. Changed my scart to a different input on back of tv and problem solved!

I think next beta release should contain the same instructions of backing up your old mvp.bin like the sagetv beta releases tell you to backup your properties and wiz.bin files.

If you need to reload the old mvp.bin but don't have a copy of it just backup your sagetv settings like you would for a beta release and re-install sagetv. This should restore your mvp.bin to the original file.

I too ran into some issues with the new beta. The UI did seem to respond quicker to remote commands. But audio/video were out of sync by a good, and the smooth RW seemed broken... it tried to backup but never really went anywhere. Reverting back to the orig version cleared everything up!

Great!

The WAF has dropped considerably since I updated to 4.1. She's been complaining about UI speed and problems with the buttons not responding. Can't get her to fully explain the button problem, so I'm hoping it was just slow UI that "caused" the problem.

I am having serious stuttering problems and I forgot to back up the file before I replaced it. The power off worked.
