I have two questions about SageTV v4

Hello,

I have been struggling for days trying to get Got All Media to work mostly because it supports ffdshow filtering for live TV which is great for analog.
it also supports QAM which I need. However after near a 100 hours of fighting with it I gave up and now looking for an alternative.

So my questions are does V4 of SageTV support ffdshow for live TV and does it support at least analog QAM?

Second question, I heard that there was a SageTV plugin that allowed OTA HD for Dvico Fusion HDTV cards, it this true and if so where might I get it?

Thanks for any info.

SageTV supports OTA HD but not QAM. It does support ffdshow (but ffdshow is bad for normal TV).

Yea I just tried the trial version, it downloads the cable channel lineup but does not work. I get audio& video rendering errors and no signal when I try to watch one of the channels.

Actually playing around with Got All Media's ffdshow support you would be surprised at what proper filtering can do for live analog.

I love and use ffdshow for lots of media, but video content (TV recordings) is not one of them. It does a really bad job of deinterlacing when compared to the newer DXVA methods in newer video cards.

mlbdude,

I thought you might like to see this, I have ffdshow running with live analog cable TV and it not only works but looks pretty damn good too.

Here is a link to the avs forum where I just posted about it with a couple pics.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=608161

I did have massive deinterlacing problems but not from ffdshow, in fact it took ffdshow deinterlacing to resolve most of it.

So it would not be a bad idea if SageTV implemented support for ffdshow in the future I think.

As mlbdude told you Sage already supports ffdshow.

FFDshow is a cpu hog and the results aren't all that great for regular tv. I get a better picture with much lower cpu usage with my 6600GT and nvidia decoder.

That is signal interference;

It is the worst channel as far as PQ I get that is why I chose it to demonstrate what ffdshow along with avisynth can do with live TV.

I'm seeing those also...as well as a few other people. We all thought it was Hauppauges latest driver for the PVR500. What CPU are you running? My AMD 3000+ Venice can't even do a re-size only to 1280x720. Nice pics.

And what do you mean by "analog QAM"? QAM is a digital signal modulation scheme.

Quadrature amplitude modulation - QAM - combination of amplitude modulation and phase shift keying. Originally developed for market by Motorola as "C-QUAM" for AM Stereo bcasts. Worked pretty cool too -- just never took off.

I know what QAM is, I was trying to figure out what the OP meant by combining analog with it. I mean is it analog cable, SD digital cable, digital cable, ... ?
