nielm,
Is it simple to make this a plug-in module instead of an stvi? Over at mlbdude's SageMC169, we can't use imports, only plug-ins. Some people have tried to import the newsreader but failed miserably.
Thanks

from what I understand, SageMC's plugins *are* STVI's

it is not working with SageMC169 right now, mlbdude says here:
http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthr...postcount=1195 "The RSS menu is really not a plugin it is an import. Apparently it is not setup to work independently and needs the SageTV4.x STV. If the author can create it with its own internal items it will work as a plugin."

Off the top of my head, I cannot think of a reason why it would not work - Stuntmans'/NYC Bhoy's problems are due to missing background image file

If that is not it, Someone with Studio knowledge and spare time who uses SageMC and wants to use RSS (deria?!) will have to look into it further.

This is the same for me too. It would be nice if the blank entries could be populated with the movie info taken from IMDB like description, cast, rating etc..

A SageMC plugin is just a way of getting to self contained menu's. To use RSS menu you do need to isntall the STVI. For SageMC right now just renamve the .STVI to .STV and it will work.

I am planning on implementing a special custom way of importing ".STVMCP" files though.

Which background pictures are you referring to?

Thanks in advance...

Has anyone had any success geting the listings to show up in the list? I see them at the top like others but nothing in the list. Works great for other newsfeeds just not the theater one

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I have the plugin working I guess but I cannot use it. When I select the NewsFeed thing, it shows the screen but with the main menu behind it and i cannot select anything as it seems the 'focus' is on the main menu screen behind it.

I have the same problem (well all most the same thing. Screen doesn't refresh so clicking a RSS link shows the link info as well as what was on the screen before). Has anybody been able to find a work around for this.

Thanks in advance...

This is the last piece of the puzzle for me...

I had a quick look...
Firstly there is an RSS news feed menu included in the latest SageMC, but it does not work to well.. To fix it:
  • download my latest rss news zip
  • extract the JAR files *only* to the SageTV/JARs directory
  • shutdown sage
  • add/replace the following in Sage.properties or SageClient.properties
    Code:
    mlbdude/plugins/nielm_rss_news_feeds/Author=nielm
    mlbdude/plugins/nielm_rss_news_feeds/Description=RSS newsfeed reader
    mlbdude/plugins/nielm_rss_news_feeds/Menu=Rss News Feeds -- nielm -- csm
    mlbdude/plugins/nielm_rss_news_feeds/Title=RSS News Feeds
(note this is slightly different to the wik, and *IMPORTANT* there must be no spaces at the end of the lines)
  • start sage
  • load SageMC16x9 (if you have not done already)
  • open Studio (CTRL-SHIFT-F12)
  • Find menu "Detailed Setup"
  • expand it
  • select "AlbumTheme"
  • press CTRL-C
  • find and select menu "Rss News Feeds -- nielm -- csm"
  • press CTRL-SHIFT-V (should add an AlbumTheme in italics)
  • select "MenuProgramTheme" child of the menu "Rss News Feeds -- nielm -- csm"
  • press delete
  • find and select menu "RssNewsItemList -- nielm -- csm"
  • expand it
  • select "AlbumTheme" child
  • press delete
  • Reselect menu "RssNewsItemList -- nielm -- csm"
  • press CTRL-SHIFT-V (should add an AlbumTheme in italics)
  • File-SageAs SageMC-new (or similar)

You should now have a function RSS news plugin menu item...

Yes ... They are just numbered by Movie Theater number ... Highlight the theater number and see what's playing up top !! Then flip over to IMDB to look up the movie and see what it's all about ... would be cool if the movie info was sucked in, but I can live with this ... Beats listening to the phone recording or running over to the PC ...

Thanks very much NeilM! Got a question for you though, is there a way to specify which browser the reader opens up? Since I'm using ati's multidesk I was looking to have a separate browser just for this....

Thanks for everything bud

malbec: yes it does work with the MVP.

CarlG: I know it's possible, but I can't remember off-hand if you need to set it in studio, or if it can be done externally...I'm not at home, so I'm not sure.

When I do this the background goes away and the menu's run on top of eachother. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I've gone through it twice with the same results. Thanks for your help.
